Mattel used to go to NYCC, until power-con made them pick 1 or the other. they used to reveal stuff & sell the traveling con exclusive. does anyone know if they are going this year?

it had everything to do with power-con 2014. that is why they didn't go to nycc. nycc was the month after power-con
anyway, does anyone know if they are going this year?

Power-Con is a very small convention compared to NYCC. Scott said it was a scheduling issue, and he also said a few times that budget was an issue for travelling to conventions out of state. Those could have been excuses he made because he didn't want to fly to NYCC that year to promote MOTUC, but he did stress that they had a small budget that year to travel.
It probably costs Scott $15 in gas money to drive to Power-Con. A lot cheaper than buying a plane ticket. Power-Con didn't force him to choose which one to go to that year. The fact that Power-Con was cancelled that year due to poor sales should tell you something. Scott had planned to go to Power-Con instead of NYCC that year simply because of geographical connivence.
I don't know if they are going to NYCC this year. So far, I haven't seen anything announced.

he said it was because of power-con in nyc, i remember i just can't find it.he said they couldn't go to nyc twice in two months. i don't know why you keep defending power-con but power-con was cancelled cause they didn't do any advertising or promote it at all. the mattypalooze panel at nycc were very large & full. scott is no longer there,
"Scott had planned to go to Power-Con instead of NYCC that year simply because of geographical connivence."
that doesn't even make sense as both were in nyc last year. (until they cancelled power-con making interest of the ticket sales.)

You are right. They did plan Power-Con in NYC that year, but Scott had a pretty good idea that it was getting cancelled in advance. I got the impression he just wasn't interested in travelling to promote the line that year.
