  • H.R. Giger dead at 74

It's with a very heavy heart that I announce the passing of the great Swiss surrealist airbrush master, Hans Reudi Giger, at the age of 74 after a fall down the stairs at his home in Zurich. He's best known for his design work for movies such as Alien, Dune, Poltergeist and Species. His work's also graced the covers of musical artists such as Celtic Frost, Debbie Harry, Emerson, Lake & Palmer and The Dead Kennedys. He was a huge influence on yours truly, one of my top three favorites. R.I.P.

Yeah I got the sad news around noon today my time. He has completely changed how I do design and art... RIP master.

That is sad. I've loved his work from the moment I saw Alien. This guy had vision. What a lame way to go. Done in by stairs.

What if he designed some bad ass stairs? I could see him tripping on them then.

Agreed. Sucks that such a great talent is taken out by mere stairs. Usually it's cancer or a heart attack or something. At least we have his many years worth of work.

Great artist. A real visionary. You can feel his influence in many reaches in various art forms. Though he lived a long life it is tragic how he passed on.
