Hey guys,

Although websites like He-Man World and He-Man.org use the name "He-Man" in their titles, we can't sell t-shirts that have the name He-Man printed on them, as Mattel owns the copyright to that name. No names or trademarks owned by Mattel could appear on any shirts designed for fans of the site. The abbreviated name of the site - HMW - could be used on shirts.

Get creative. HEMAN, HE MAN.

Use Zazzle. Or a foreign T-Shirt company.

We may be able to put www.hemanworld.com (in small print) on a shirt, but we can't put the name "He-Man" on the shirt. A few other forums have done this in the past and got in trouble from Mattel Legal for using copyright MOTU names and logos on their shirts, so we just can't do that. Power-Con used silhouettes of characters on t-shirts, so something like that might be an option.

OK, so how does a prominent site like QWERTEE.COM get to do so many He-Man themed shirts? I don't see any licensing agreements.

Most of those shirts you just posted above would be OK, because they are parodies. As long as they are not using actual designs by Mattel, or cashing in on the trademarked names (He-Man, She-Ra, Masters of the Universe, etc), its fine. Parody is OK.

The thing to remember is that none of those t-shirt companies run a He-Man fan forum. Last thing anyone wants is this site to get in shit from Mattel legal for cashing in on the He-Man name. The Org got in trouble for this years ago when they tried to sell shirts that said He-Man.Org. They also got in shit when they sold shirts that used MOTU character logos (Zodac, Ninjor, Battle Armor Skeletor and He-Man, etc...). HMW has the luxury now of learning from the Org's past mistakes.

A shirt design with a HMW logo similar to what Nankeiro posted will be used as the design. We have put together a t-shirt with a modified site logo (designed by forum member DJ Force). These shirts will be sold at redbubble.com. You can choose the standard logo (which can be matched to any colour of t-shirt that you like!) The logo-on-nebula works best with a black t-shirt. All money raised from the sale of these t-shirts (and stickers!) will go towards paying for the hosting costs of the forum.
