Thanks, it's a lot of work, but I've enjoyed working on the He-Man intro and the Friendship vids, if I wasn't still coming down off having the flu, I could still be working on them!

Anyway, so, back in late-ish 2016, I began working on designing my own reboot of She-Ra, though once I heard about the Netflix reboot, I kinda put mine on the back burner, merely finishing my version of Adora, the Sword of Protection, her head piece, a rudimentary design of She-Ra, mostly as a reference to refine later, a couple character outline descriptions and some scenes scripted out. After the reboot was released and I finally got a chance to watch the show... and being bitterly disappointed with its blandness, I decided to start back up. Unfortunately slow going due to all my projects, but I've been plodding along, essentially, it's a follow on to 200X (cos I wanted to), but loosely based on the original 5 parter, plus a dose of NA inspiration thrown in. Admittedly, some elements after watching the official reboot I've noticed were similar, in particular Spinnerella and Nettossa being a couple, though that I decided on in 2017, before we knew they were also a couple in the official reboot, but such as recruiting others, also similar, though different approaches and definitely no princess of the week type thing.

        On to my design ideas;

I just had the time to look at your work, and I was very impressed by your efforts. Also, I'd take your reboot venture over Dreamworks' attempt of She-Ra any day of the week.
The only thing that I've liked from their reboot was their background designs. Their character designs and style on the other hand were simply lazy and uncreative.

Please tell me that you work for a respectful studio somewhere.

Thanks Mechanizor and I wish I could say that I did work for a studio, but at present I'm just a guy with a bunch of Art, TV & Film diploma's and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in animation, with only one professional gig under my belt, though can't tell you anything about that sadly. I do things simply because I want to!

Your intro is really awesome. Nice touches of light and shadow really make a difference..they just all seem to pop more. Anyways, I like...keep up the good work!

Glad you liked Andy! I really should get around to finishing the reproduction of the intro, but I'm really stuck on the background behind Cringer where Prince Adam says "This is Cringer...", I need to get an expanded version of that, as accuracy is what I am going for, I don't want to make stuff up! Every other background have moments in the series where we get panning shots, so I'm able to produce expanded versions to use, but the one behind Cringer in that shot.... we get nothing, which really stalled my production! Plus, the effects used, the source is so fragmented, I can barely see what's happened to reproduce them, so that's stalled things even further ????

Though the reproduction of Friendship is doing OK ????

Very impressive! I especially love your redesign of Princess Adora and the Sword. I would love to see something like that design appear in a movie or a cartoon someday.

Thanks BZ, as would I, though I don't think it would happen. However, you will see my Adora animated, as I am going to animate her transforming into She-Ra! You will see some similarities to Prince Adam's transformation in 200X, as said in one of my prior posts, I am setting my reboot as a follow on to 200X, so I wanted it have those similarities to tie the two together, but at the same time, do something different as well! I've already storyboarded half of it, I'm just in the middle of doing something else, so I'll have to get the other half done later!

Finished off doing this short comparison vid for a sequence from my 16:9 HD digital reproduction of the classic She-Ra episode, Friendship! See if you can spot the differences:

Basic stiff pose for the moment, but I'll do a more dynamic one later! The colours are not finalised, I just wanted to get the design down before I forget, she does have a cape, but she throws it off when she goes to fight, the mask comes down when she's to transform... which, I haven't sketched yet, but hope these will suffice for now!

OK, so after some thinking and a little experimenting, I have decided that this is as close to how I envisioned my redesign of Catra for my reboot of She-Ra. Now sporting a catsuit... yes, I did...... she has claws made from Marelian Skrag and like the original, when she pulls down her mask, she turns into a big cat, I will do that design shortly, no she doesn't do the meowing or drinking milk from the original, but does scratch people up with her claws! There's some details that aren't in this, I will do a more character sheet style pic showing her off properly soon, but for now, I hope you likes:

Just wanted to post a little extract from my rough script for my She-Ra reboot, you'll obviously notice the similarities between the original, as said, my reboot is based partly on the original series, but set in the 200X series world.

In this scene, Bow has helped Adam evade a Horde trooper, who Adam had accidentally bumped into and the trooper tried to arrest him, but Adam, with Cringer in tow fled and Bow came to their rescue. After a bit of chatting and a few other things, Bow is taking Adam with him back to the rebel camp through Whispering Woods and....

Bow and Adam are riding along on Arrow, having a little talk, Cringer and Kowl in tow, then they hear a giggling above them, they look up to see this beautiful young girl, wearing an outfit made of grass, leaves and vines, late teens possibly, looking down towards them, it's Spritina, lying front down on a thick branch from one of the tall trees, head cheerfully resting in her hands:
                                      "Hiya Bow!"
Cut to a close up of Spritina.
                                      "Who's your handsome friend?"
Cut to Bow and Adam on the back of Arrow:
Bow: "Spritina? What are you doing here?"
Back to Spritina lying on the branch:
"Waiting for you of course silly! I didn't know you were going to be bringing somebody back with you!"
Back to Bow and Adam, Adam looking a bit bemused:
Bow: "This is Adam, I rescued him from a Horde trooper in town!"
Cut to a medium wide view of Spritina, who props herself up on her hands, then thrusts her backside upwards, lifting her legs up from the branch, swings under the branch, doing a somersault after she lets go and disappears into the bottom of the frame.
Cut to a longer view of Bow and Adam on Arrow, Cringer partly cowering behind them, Kowl hovering, Spritina's foot lands on the ground, very close to the camera.
Cut to a medium shot of Spritina, who fixes her hat a little, as it shifted as she flew through the air, then begins to walk forward.
Back to Bow and Adam watching quietly, Adam peering out from behind Bow.
Cut to another medium view, but somewhat close behind Bow and Adam, as Spritina is walking towards them to the left of frame.
Now cut to a wide shot, side on, Spritina is standing by Arrow, and we see that she is only like 3 feet tall.

It'll look funny when I storyboard it, as I use perspective and angles to make Spritina appear normal sized, only to be revealed in the end that she's actually very tiny. Anyway, hope you liked the sound of it, I know it's different to the original when Spragg appears, but I hope different in a good way ????

Decided that I would finish my first redesign of Spritina for my personal reboot idea for She-Ra Princess of Power. This version will be a little more combatant and mischievous. As a Twigget, she is in tune with the Whispering Woods and can work with the magic of the woods to aid her in her endeavours. When in combat, the woods will lend her their protection, providing her with wrappings of leaves and vine, which she can then use to attack or defend against opponents who may come to threaten the woods.

It's being a little tricky to complete this sequence, as Bow walks in from out of frame at a 4:3 ratio, now he's walking in at a ratio of 16:9, so there's a lot missing that I am having to recreate, thankfully due to Filmation's recycling of animation all the time, I've managed to locate the sequence of frames I need to reproduce from other episodes.

My next issue is what to do about the bit that has Lohni spouting some dialogue, for some reason, they zoomed in on her head and put her really low down in the frame for the part that intersects Bow and She-Ra talking to Lohni... do I put it in, or do I leave it out? Most likely I'll put it in, but it does mean the sequence taking a little longer to do! Anyway, I hope you like the picture below:

So I did decide to do the intersecting sequence, I also fixed it, Lohni is no longer almost cut off the screen and is on the right level, I also did some additional animation for the sequence, along with reorganising the lip syncing.

Here's a comparison pic of the original scene and my reproduction:
