Last year, my buddy Allen found me both Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain in the possession of some toy collector out in Surrey, BC that was letting them just collect dust on a shelf. Fortunately for me, he managed to talk him into selling them to him for $100 for both. When I got this Castle Grayskull it was in fairly good shape, but the elevator and throne were broken and it was missing a good many of the accessories. Since I never liked the boring, minimalist paint job, I decided to give it a total re-do and make the accessories myself. With my girlfriend's help (hell, she did a LOT of it), I was able to make the throne and elevator function again. I only started customizing last year, so I'm no expert at it. I'm also currently working on Snake Mountain but here's what I ended up with for Grayskull:

Here's some shots of the custom weapons rack my girlfriend Jane and I made. It's made entirely out of tongue depressors, popsicle sticks, doweling, nails woodglue, paint and varnish. I'm a little peeved the pegs weren't lined up straighter, but it's not as noticeable when it's loaded up with weapons.4 Photos

Here's my customized Zoar. It's missing the back piece, unfortunately, but I re-painted the battle armor which had that annoying plastic crease in it as well as the stand which was re-made by Jane and myself. The stand was bending badly. So much so that Zoar wouldn't sit properly. Jane drilled a hole in the perch and I added a piece of old TV antennae. It works great! I also repainted Zoar so that the underside matched the top feathers. Unfortunately I forgot to get pics of that. D'OH!!3 Photos
