I HIGHLY recommend viewing this thread while listening to this record as it is the closest thing to an actual cosmic key you'll ever find.
Best thread on Hemanworld, NAY! Best thread on the whole of the internet and also ANY internetz that may exist or might ever have (or will) across the whole of the universe. The Multiverse even. (actually I take that last part back. There might be another universe in existence where The Powers of Grayskull came out in 1987 so...But short of that dimension, YOU are a Master of the Universe Battle Ram Man.Thank you. having lost many of these files (and seeing some for the first time, since I don't FB as often as I should) I've regained much of what I lost and learned some new things along the way thanks to you.

So I listened to those vids - crazy! So Evil Lyn talks like an old crone and transforms into Screech. Man-at-Arms rides around on Zoar. Prince Adam chants "By the power of Castle Grayskull" twice, but never says "I have the power".
That was fun to listen to. Although whoever was the voice actor playing Skeletor was an enormous ham

The variety of ideas that existed between the source material and the more recognizable Filmation tropes are extremely strange, especially the variations of the infamous incantation that transformed he-man to Adam. By my count there are FIVE minor variations on that indicating Filmation was working VERY CLOSELY with Mattel's licensing department as things developed in real time...I really liked THIS Skeletor. When I read the first mini comics, I hear this guy's voice. Wish I could forget Evil-Lyn's voice. What I love most is the Narrator's description of Eternia. I see all the box art and Filmation Background paintings in my head listening to that!
The best part is that silly childish song that sticks in your head for days/ "We are the masters. We are the Masters of the universe. The uuuuniveeeerse!"
I have especially awesome dreams when I fall asleep listing to that!
RZ that would be AWESOME, though you will keep the imperfections that makes it sound like a well worn record right? I think that is part of the charm. I've only ever herd this as an MP3, and those imperfections remind me of the records I use to listen to as a small child. I wouldn't want it to be TOO PERFECT if you take my meaning?

Coloring book cover that seems to be based on a panel by Alcala in the Power of Point Dread book that came with the record, but redrawn by I think by Fred Carillo. Looks like his work. He added more characters (originally the small models included only He-Man, MAA and BC) and made changes to the look of Castle Grayskull as well2 PhotosLast edited by Battle Ram Man; 11-19-2014, 06:43 PM.

I want that Hordak mask SO BAD, or at least a replica. It feels VERY Meta considering one of Hordak's early influences was an mask of an African witch doctor and a lot of people feel like Filmation Hordak is actually wearing a mask...I think if Mattel made replicas like that the way Star Wars does it would expand the brand awareness. Oh the possibilities! I might start of an Eternian branch of the 501st and fight unemployed Skeletor at conventions! LOL.At the very least I'd mount that on the wall like a hunter's trophy.

Lots of Filmation, including artwork from the early commercial they made before the show was conceived105 Photos

WOW! The Cells from the Lost commercial needs to be a thread, post, blog or video in and of it self. Perhaps with the relevant quotes from Lou's tell all book with a clip from the DVD's documentary about Gwen Wetler's first he-man animated appearance! This would help dispel the myth that there is a wealth of lore "pre-Filmation". VERY LITTLE of MOTU is Prefilmation save for Rudy's box art box art, the water color 8 backs and first four illustrated books and the wealth of the earliest conceptual arts which lead to the first years worth of toys.
