MATTY: NO NYCC / Goatman allocation to SDCC

Hey Matty Fans! A quick update... due to scheduling conflicts we regret we'll be unable to attend NYCC this fall. In light of this change, we're going to be bringing the quota of Goat Man allocated for NY to SDCC this year. Hope to see as many of you as possible in San Diego!

So my thought is unless you're going to Power Con and if anything is allocated for the show other than the pre-sale; anyone who was hoping to get a Traveling Con figure at the Con it normally is sold at is S.O.L.
Now to slightly defend Mattel they presumable have the quarterly meeting for the next toy year as they have had before. But pondering on what the scheduling conflict was, maybe that minimized appearance at Power Con will be full blown Matty now (that would be one way to help sell more tickets) especially after what will be a way to tether the upcoming storm!

But plain and simple... another genius way to help garner support for Club Eternia 2015!!! :twobad:

Stuff like this makes me shake my head. They should be putting those Goat Man figures up for sale on Mattycollector so that the people who won't be getting it at NYCC still have a chance to buy the figure online. Lazy and thoughtless.

Or better yet they should post them for sale at the times of the Con that way it's somewhat connected to the Con. Now as with previous Con exclusives, I don't think they will go fast, but it's really about the principle and concept of the figure's marketing gimmick. And the only thing that would blow even more about this is paying the extra 30 bucks for shipping when at the Con there would be no taxes or the latter.

Goat-Man is a really cool figure, and I would love to own him, but I've never been a fan of 'exclusives'. Exclusives just leave everyone else out.

I remember back during the 200X line, I never owned an official Faker release. I had to paint my own. I also missed out on Flocked Moss Man, Snake Teela and Keldor. Yep, that's just how it goes with exclusives.

Why would they do that? This way resellers can buy them all and put them on eBay and Amazon for $100+ a pop

Goat Man was one of the few figures this year I really, really wanted, what a shame.

Well it was also announced that they will be on sale at Power Con and probably remaining stock at the end of the year (fingers crossed).

Did we expect anything else,it's this kind of crap that burnt me off this line,the whole exclusive thing much like the imp box is just TG's way of making sure people buy the product at the show.....end off,loolks like lazy marketing to me.

Yeah got mine without incident then as well. Was looking to pick up some more at the NYCC for those I have helped in prior with exclusives and the such.

Definitely not going to Power Con this year, so no good for me. Even though it's right in the area I spend the summer in every year, I can't justify supporting that mess. Based on past experiences Nemisythe, I doubt there will be any at the end of the year. Unfortunately I think this one will be scalped heavily and for us in the EU, even more so. There should really be a one or at most two-piece limit at the booth, so everyone gets a fair chance. But we all know that doesn't actually happen, or apply to resellers, scalpers, or stores, who are known to bribe the booth attendants at SDCC so they can get large amounts of the exclusives at a discount.
