  • RIP Mark Taylor.

I know that I don't post here much these days, but I'd like to share this sad video about one of the main creators of MOTU:

    RIP...

Good journey Mark and thank you for the wonderful memories. My childhood was in a good place thanks to your efforts!

What a great video. The Taylor inspired characters are by far my favourites. His MOTU work had a huge impact on my childhood. Thanks Mark, for all the great memories!

I did some interviews with Mr. Taylor, early on, and tried to let the fans know when Mattel was threatening him -- which promptly got me censored on a certain fan site. The last time I spoke with Mark, he was headed to Hawaii for a vacation, but ended up getting sick. When I tried to contact him for some follow-up interviews, he seemed to have gotten me mixed up with somebody else (apparently a pest, maybe one even pretending to be me) and thereafter gave me the hot potato treatment. That cost me an interview with his buddy Ted, and pretty much put me out of the fan interview business. Though I'll remember him fondly from the brief hours we talked (not to mention the influence of his creations on my childhood), it's become somewhat of a bitter memory.

Sorry to hear that, and thanks for sharing your experience with us... Some of us know how exactly things might get misconstrued to a point where is could leave a bad taste in our mouths. But we move on...

My He-Man toys were the only toys from the 80s that I kept. Don't know what happened to my Joe's and a few Transformers I had. But my He-Man collection I always kept. I only had 3 or 4 vehicles, Battlebones, Dragonwalker, Roadripper and the Landshark but lost the last 2 a few years ago. The only playset I had was the Frightzone which I still have albeit a few broken pieces and missing the sock monster.
. I didn't know who the creators were up until a few years ago so I just want to say thanks Mark for all the toys you designed that I still love to this day.
. RIP Mark Taylor. Good journey
