Okay, we're very close to 2023's SDCC, and this even will start officially on Friday July 21st, and here what's been announced thus far in regards to MOTU panel:

The Mattel MOTU product and packaging team will reveal an exclusive look into the creative process behind the latest releases and a sneak peek of what’s to come in 2024 and beyond. Even better, the first 250 attendees will receive an exclusive MOATy lapel pin. By the Power of Grayskull!

So, the MOTU brand seems to be healthy with its prospects; if the world doesn't go berserk before then that is.

The 16th is a Sunday. The 19th is a Wednesday and preview night.

Does this mean they can get the con exclusives?

Regardless, sounds like a neat and fun idea.

We shall see, however you gotta keep in mind, MOTU is only a brand among many other brands they could reveal... I think tomorrow or Tuesday suppose to be the first day?!

Sooo, nothing MOTU related to be report on and to talk about thus far!

I was expecting at least some nifty teasers here and there, but Mattel isn't really trying their best to promote MOTU as big as DC and Marvel I see...

I don't know if I'm just hallucinating or if it was a wish list or whatever but didn't toy habits mention something about a masterverse Castle Grayskull possible announcement

A long ago just before the Origins Snake Mountain teasers, Mattel teased Classics Castle Grayskull on their Instagram page, and I reported on it that it could be reissued for the MV line?! Months after that it became part of a wishlist on ToyHabits’ site and probably other You Tubers’ wishlists…

If Mattel hasn’t even reissued a MV Panthor from the Battle Cat’s buck, do you think they’ll make a MV Castle Grayskull?

I agree. The rumor has it it’s Fang-Or, but with the 2 $$ sign, it could be anything that is considered deluxe and exclusive.
Initially I thought that it could be Lady Slither or Night Stalker?!

Whatever the offering in this window, I'm gonna try to get 3 of each (if allowed?) assuming our guesses are correct, and where the Night Stalker is the army builder for me.

This was posted on AdlutCollector's facebook page (he's an insight of Mattel's MOTU products as part of their influencer program):

                  ORIGINS FANG-OR**
                  Availability: Mattel Creations
                  Page Go-Live Date: August
                  Pre-Sale Date: August
Product Copy: To be provided later.
Notes from the Team: Both Lady Slither and Fang-Or are original designs created by Axel Gimenez during the Classics era. Ever since they were first revealed, they have been two of the most requested characters, so for us to make them into Origins figures feels epic! As a fan, it is a “checkbox” moment for me that I get to bring these two characters to life through directing the artwork and designing their packaging. When it’s revealed, you will see a direct connection to Preternia. We’ll focus on a lush swamp background, and in the middle of it you’ll be able to see Lady Slither’s Snake Lair.

Fang-Or will come inside our collector-friendly packaging. The blister bubble is easily removable it can slide off and on, and he will also come with an exclusive mini comic. The artwork teases potential upcoming figure reveals and a very cool easter-egg I had to include in the cardback artwork. Fans will notice that the Snake Lair is surrounded by a moat and a creature. The moat pays homage to The Castle Moat playmat that Mark Taylor originally envisioned, and the sea creature is one of the creatures illustrated in The Castle Moat.

So I got my 3 Fang-Ors safe and sound this afternoon, and I just opened one, and the figure as expected, looks great in hand, and IMHO his aesthetics are definitely more inline (or closer) with the 200X Snake Men overall designs; even though he was released during the Classics era.

I somehow expect Lady Slither will have the same feel in terms of style and details next month, even though she's a bit more of a deluxe figure and she might be a little more expensive (I hope not though).

I saw this Q&A post by AdultCollector at the other site, and I’ll just repost it here:

Exclusive: Mattel Talks MOTU in New Q&A

EXCLUSIVE: MATTEL TALKS MOTU IN NEW Q&A

Over a month has passed since Mattel’s appearance at this year’s San Diego Comic Con event. It was an impressive showing and we learned a lot about the toy company’s plans for its MOTU: Origins and Masterverse toy lines next year!

                            * https://www.facebook.com/groups/mast...1488684877848/
                            * https://www.facebook.com/groups/mast...3343651359018/

We didn’t hear a lot of talk from the show about its plans for the remainder of 2023. Thankfully, Mattel’s MOTU brand team already gave me the scoop back in April. The company is making a renewed push at retail stores this Fall, including Walmart and Target, with lots of new Origins and Masterverse figures and playsets to enjoy!

                            * https://www.facebook.com/.../pfbid0j...QSRC2tuvFSeP1N...

Many of these new toys have been showing up on collector’s doorsteps this over the past few months, including most recently Mattel’s new Origins Snake Mountain playset, piles of Origins Skeleton Warriors 2-packs, and the new Origins Diabolical Snake Invasion 4-pack. Some new figures are even appearing on stores shelves early, including the Walmart exclusive Origins Moss Man figure set and the new Talon Fighter and Point Dread playset!

While we’re enjoying our mail days and eagerly awaiting the start of the Fall season, now is a great time to check in again with the team at Mattel! I want to give them a big THANK YOU for answering our questions. Without further ado, here they are:

Q: Will other new MOTU Origins toys be offered on the Mattel Creations website in 2024, or will only vintage Origins figures be offered?
A: “As we recently announced at SDCC, our promise to fans of completing the vintage line is one we fully intend to hold true! While we have confirmed that Mattel Creations will be the home of vintage Origins items, we can clarify that our intention is not to limit the platform to just those offerings. Mattel Creations will continue to provide additional selections across Origins and Masterverse, as well as product that is also available through mass retail channels.”

Q: How prevalent will the inclusion of action features be in the new Cartoon Collection toy designs?
A: “The introduction of the Cartoon Collection is a fantastic opportunity for our team to pull inspiration directly from the original 80’s animation. The goal of this line is to pay homage to MOTU’s first televised content, so it was important for us to focus on the true-to-content details that fans would recognize as references from the show. For this reason, our team made the strategic decision to focus on content accurate sculpts and brand-new, meaningful accessories that tie back to specific episodes of content.”

Q: Why did some waves of Origins never make it to retail stores?
A: “Many retail accounts are working through existing product inventory across Origins before they are able to bring in newness. We are incredibly proud of the line we have developed and the quality of product in the pipeline, and we’re working closely with our retail partners to find opportunities for fresh product to hit the market. Our goal for MOTU has always been to ensure that any fan who wants a figure has the opportunity to get one, and so in addition to new Cartoon Collection figures in Origins, we will also be re-releasing fan favorite Origins figures that may have been difficult to find in their initial market debut!”

Q: Any plans to bring back more of the Power-Con exclusives like Dupli-Cat or the blue vest Prince Adam figure?
A: “Conferences have been and continue to be an important venue for our team to release premium, limited-edition product catered to collectors. We loved participating in Power-Con because of the heavy focus it placed on Masters of the Universe. As it gave us the opportunity to deliver exclusives to our most passionate fans, we feel it would be a disservice to those fans to re-release those limited-edition exclusives. Although Power-Con has since opted to go in a different direction and expand the focus of the show, our team is committed to delivering more purposeful exclusives whether it be through other conventions or the Mattel Creations platform.”

Q: How many pages will be included in the mini comics packaged with new Cartoon Collection figures, and will we receive one new comic in each wave, or will each character come with its own unique story?
A: “Mini-Comics have been an integral part of the MOTU brand since the toy line first launched, and we have kept that legacy alive in Origins ever since. The introduction of the Cartoon Collection in Origins will not change our mini-comic plan, and we will continue to deliver a new, unique mini-comic with each wave. Similar to previous years, each mini-comic in the Core line will have 6 interior pages as well as 2 additional pages for cover and back, for a total of 8 pages. We are excited to continue bringing our characters to life through engaging stories for the foreseeable future!”

Q: Is Mattel planning to offer Cartoon Collection playsets?
A: “Part of the magic of Masters of the Universe is the amazing locations that populate Eternia. The vast array of playsets, vehicles, and characters are essential in bringing this magic to life. The introduction of the Cartoon Collection certainly doesn’t change this essential part of the brand’s DNA, and we are eager to explore how we can best complement our new figures with environments integral to the story.”

Q: Is there any additional info that you would like to share about the new MOTU toys, Mattel's 2024 plans, or any info you’d like to clarify that was shared at SDCC?
A: “Since relaunching, we have been blown away by the genuine enthusiasm and immense passion of our fans. It continues to be our biggest inspiration and serves as the lifeblood of this amazing franchise. The opportunity to interact with you all in person, hear the constructive feedback, and note the long wish list of items on your radar is indispensable to our team and confirms the strength and longevity of this brand.
While Origins will remain a staple segment in our line, we are also excited for the upcoming Masters of the Universe: Revolution content dropping on Netflix in Q1 2024, which will give us new inspiration within our Masterverse segment. We are always looking for opportunities to infuse freshness into our lines and expand the Masters of the Universe story, so fans should stay tuned for more announcements to come!”

Thanks for reading! Also, I wanted to let you know that I’ve received a special gift in the mail, and I cannot wait to reveal it to you very soon, so stay tuned! Until next time, stay safe and good journey.

The official Masters of the Universe Magazine in the 80s features comics done in the Filmation artwork style, that included characters like Blade, Karg, Saurod, Clamp Champ, etc. It would be great if they make figures that appeared in the magazine in the cartoon style as well, that never actually appeared in the cartoon.

I doubt it if they looked a little different, but never say never.

I wasn't interested in the Filmation/Cartoon style sub-line, but now I know they'd include mini-comics, probably I have to buy a character from each wave or something.

I also don't like Facebook or Instagram (part of Meta), but we're basically force to use them. I used to have a FB accounts just for browsing, but I hated everything about it, and eventually I've deleted them. Instagram at least has less intrusive mechanisms behind it.

Many MOTU fan base groups are still hinged on that FB crap. Sigh...

BZ, one of those YouTubers was comparing it to the custom and it does make me wonder if Mattel would do add ons for it over time. I like the slime chamber but I hope if it gets made that it doesn't nix the possibility of the slime pit playset getting made

                                  Snake lair looks really awesome...

If Mattel is smart, they'd make both of the Horde playsets either separately with some add ons for each, or both in one big package.

I was very surprised to see the lack of the Gigantisaur option even though it was teased!

I agree with your sentiment Andy.

Probably they've chosen those two vehicles just to gauge out the interest of the "big sized" vehicles that weren't part of the vintage lineup and most likely won't be made without a crowdfund.
All the other old vehicles were reasonably sized and small enough to pass as regular toys, and a crowdfund campaign won't necessarily be needed to make them?!

At least I hope they'd give us one of the Horde playsets and the Snake Lair, assuming they'd make the top two choices.

I don't know Mech, there could've been three or four polls, to me this one seems skewed. I'd be surprised if the fright zone isn't in the top 2. They could've done at least 2 polls separating the vehicles from the playsets.

I dunno either about not crowdfunding the vintage vehicles. Depends on if they're motorized or whatnot. I don't ever see the vintage toy Monstroid, Bionatops, Tyrantisaurus Rex, and or especially the Dragon Walker getting made without a crowdfund.

Your argument makes sense especially with how the vehicles have been treated and sidelined by the current MOTU management and their limited budget!
They don’t have to make the vehicles motorized, they can just implement simple manual mechanisms to tigger the old features like how I’ve discussed in the past.

Crowdfund projects take a lot of time to finalize and to ship, and with how collectors go, they might lose interest eventually especially if they’re collecting other lines…

Origins shouldn’t be treated this way regularly unless the items are significantly large and/or obscure and costly like the Gigantisaurus.
