...except that it's almost May and pretty green and sunny here. Anyway, I'm Robarr The Morbid AKA Rob "Macabre" Smits from Vancouver BC Canada. I've been a MOTU fan for roughly 32 years, so yeah I'm an old fart, kinda.
I'm an artist and musician mainly, but I work a day-job as a Rent-A-Cop for a local credit union here. Besides having been in a couple of underground Black metal bands, I've also done artwork, both logos and cover art, for a number of underground Metal bands from all over the world.
I started my MOTU collecting somewhat later than most kids did, but I loved it all the same and was a big sword and sorcery fan (HUGE Conan The Barbarian fan) and MOTU just seemed to go nicely with that.
When I was 16, I began listening to my father who kept encouraging me to get rid of my toys that I'd held onto. I was getting older and my interests were shifting towards music, so against my better judgement, I listened and dumped my entire collection in the garbage, a move I regretted FOR YEARS.
Then, around 2006/2007, I began noticing a show called "Robot Chicken" (F-ing hilarious!) that was doing MOTU skits and all my memories of those awesome toys came flooding back. Since I was an adult and no longer cared what my father thought, I decided to begin re-collecting MOTU again, getting back everything I threw away and grabbing the stuff I always wanted but never got.
I'm happy to say I've got a pretty good portion of it all back and then some. Being that the toy line is over 30 years old, it's been a challenge to find figures, vehicles and playsets in good condition. I've been fortunate in being able to find a good many item in at least C.6 or C.7 condition, but then there's been the odd item that's really in need of some love so I take great pleasure in fixing 'em up and customizing them.
Anyway, to make a long story short, last week I tried signing up over at He-Man.org but was turned away for some really petty reason, even though I contacted the administrator and explained myself. I was kind of discouraged until I found this place shortly after. Cheers!
