  • Reveal withdrawal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is anyone here suffering like myself????? We got so much great stuff shown to us in the second half of last year, the wait til feb for the next lot of reveals is killing me! I'm really hoping there is some truth to this POP/Etheria minisub I keep hearing rumblings about. What say you - how are you feeling about the MOTUC reveals so far and how do you cope with your 'reveal withdrawals?'

  • #2
I cope by buying my other lines, and filling in MOTUC with a few of my on the fence about figures. Try waiting for revealed info about MP Transformers....we get a Pre-Order from BBTS, then wait a couple months for a silhouette of what it will look like, then a nother couple months we get blurry ass teaser pics, then finally non blurry teasers, then pics, but then wait another 3 months for the damn things to finally come in. That's much worse than waiting a couple months for MOTUC reveals....

Very true....I also collect MP TF's. The difference is - MOTUC is ALOT cheaper than the high end MP TF's. If they released the MP's differently I wouldn't be able to budget myself properly. Knowing a LONG time in advance helps the relationship and budget with my wife:-) Plus, there's rumours abound about there being certain characters coming, and due to their intricate designs these rumours don't seem to change too much coz they can't simply swap out figures to keep people guessing!

I am happy so far by playing with Grayskull - it's just so awesome! When I get reveal withdrawal, I start guessing what are the next few figures to be revealed

Right now, I am most excited to see what the final version of Blade will look like once he is released. Usually I am in "reveal withdrawal" this time of year too, but I'm still on a high after getting Castle Grayskull for Christmas

Honestly, nothing will excite me much these days unless Mattel announces vehicles, beasts/monsters, playsets, and giants are in, which most likely won't happen anytime soon (or later)!
I'd love to see a good chunk of 200X figures made, but it seems Mr. LGuru isn't an advocate of those either!

In a way, I don't have reveal withdrawal. Sometimes I dread the reveals nowadays.

The Era Wars that seem to pop up everytime some non-Vintage character is revealed really sucks the fun out of collecting this line. Same old arguments from the same people who always seem to forget that MOTUC is doing all the eras. Some fansforget all about the Vintage characters that they are getting and are more worried about the figures that they don't want. It gets so tiresome.

        • People complained about Hydron
        • People complained about Battle Lion
        • People complained about Flogg
        • People complained about Mara
        • People complained about Flutterina

If Intergalactic Skeletor hadn't gone over so well, people would have complained about him too!

That is why I mostly ignore what the masses say and look at the pretty pictures.

I still get excited. I enjoy collecting this line and what others say doesn't bother me. If I don't like something, I don't buy it. The only fig you mentioned that I am not excited for is IG Skeletor but I am still glad he is in the line.

Yes. It's easy to complain. People like to do what is easy. I wish more people offered constructive criticism. It bothers me a lot, enough to certainly complain about it LOL! ;-)

It's the trolls who have nothing better to to then to tear down people's constructive criticism that I really HATE!

I don't get involved in those types of discussions. I love everything about this line and I'm not going to let some overly vocal p&^$y fanboys or gals whining because they're not happy about the character selection ruin it for me. I didn't get myself a grayskull.....I don't have the room for it. I guess it makes sense that it has satisfied those who could afford to buy him for the time being as far as reveals go. I can't help it though....I'm excited to see what Feb brings for MOTUC. My fingers are corssed for a POP mini sub...and more snake men. I needs to fill out my great rebellion and snake men shelves!

Well, the thing is MGM, mixing all the eras and calling it a "Classic" was a big mistake from the start, not to mention a lot of the new comers are mixing the term classic with vintage!
The majority of the MOTU fans are/were vintage MOTU fans/collectors, and this is a solid fact that most people need to accept, and it's just hard to persuade the majority (even if they're not vocally loud online as the POP or Filmation fans sometimes) to accept shedding money on POP/NA/200X/Filmation while forcing subscriptions down their throats!!! (BTW, I'm a big 200X fan myself)

I know we kept hearing that was the only logistical way to keep figures coming, and when people finally have accepted that bitter/sweet reality, Mattel on the other end of the equation couldn't keep up with their CS, QC and kept giving their customers only empty promises, while charging premium prices and excessive shipping rates!

No wonder why people keep complaining!

Complaints about Mattel and DR are one thing, but character selection? People KNOW characters from other eras were coming, but chose to ignore that info until the day those characters get revealed. Even the worst POP hater must realize that he will see more POP figures at some point.

The fanbase might favor the Vintage characters over all else, but the line was created to be an all-inclusive MOTU line from the start, giving us characters that the Vintage line never got to and new characters who'd popped up since then. The first figure in the line was from 200X/MYP.

When the first Figure is King Grayskull and the second Con exclusive is especially a variant on the theme you kinda loose ground on what classics "should" be...because diversity is in it's DNA. Ultimately 200X has under performed, whereas Filmation of an infusion of excitement and a sub lure.

Here, here! I just got into Masterpiece TFs this summer and I almost have all of them except for Red Alert. (Rodimus is the LAST Masterpiece I get and I'll look into Grimlock later--I'm moreso into the regular 1984-1985 Autobots and Decepticons at this point).

The wait for Masterpiece Wheeljack and Bumblebee in particular is excruciating! I hit up TF websites everyday in hopes of seeing a picture.

Me too for the 84 - 85 bots and Maybe Megatron and Shockwave, pretty much all I'm interested in. I have the Hasbro 20th Anniversary Prime & 30th Anniversary Soundwave with the 5 cassettes, Prowl, Bluestreak and Smokecreen, getting the Year of the Horse Prime, reissue Sideswipe. Missing Red Alert, Grimlock and eagerly awaiting Wheeljack.

Give me Ironhide, Ratchet, Trailbreaker, Sunsreaker, Hound, Jazz and Mirage now, Mirage being my favorite. I gave up on buying G1 toys for these MP versions, since, they are the versions I've waited for since childhood and can cost pretty close to MP prices.

In a way I don't look forward to reveals as much anymore. Some awesome figures have been shown recently only to get annihilated by fans. Ruins it a bit. I think some people wish we could start over again and reveal He-Man, Skeletor etc. Nothing else seems to be good enough!

I'm looking forward to Toy Fair, and I'm hoping we see the POP sub that has been rumored. As far as people and their opinions go, it doesn't really bother me much. You can't make everyone happy. I know there are things that are coming next year that I'm not thrilled about (Battle Lion being one). However, when I consider we may see Entrapta, NA She-ra, Tung Lashor, and Lodar amoung the other reveals so far, I'm pretty excited to see what they have in store for the rest of 2014.

I am looking forward to the reveals, but I've also been busy with arranging my collection. Castle Grayskull was a big game-changer, space-wise, and I'm now in the process of installing new shelving and rearranging where things are displayed in order to maximize the space and allow for as much visibility as possible.

Got to admit, I don't know what they could reveal to make me really excited anymore......more vehicles maybe? Something with an action feature?

I hit refresh with as much rigor as I did five years ago. except for the amount of stuff and the price, I wish classics would never stop!

Seeing Eldor or Crita would make me very excited but I don't think they are coming. At least not this year. I am already very happy with the 2014 line-up. Keep the good times rolling!
