I got my Hydron yesterday. I like him, and I plan on making a display with him vs Clawful, but the choice for a soft plastic for his weapon is really, really weird. You would think that these toy industry professionals would know this stuff by now. Mind you, maybe they were concerned about 'snapping' issues.

I started revisiting NA, and I'm still finding it really hard to watch. I usually make it about half way through an episode, and then switch to Defenders of The Earth.
Back during my org days, I spoke with Here's Olesker quite frequently. He was a really cool guy, and I could see his passion when making this series, and his talent for writing, but there's just something about NA that just doesn't work.

Still NA does have some charms, and gorgeous animation.

I just got my Hydron today. For the most part, I like him, but three things really stick out to me that could have been improved. First is the yellow weapon, which is made of a very soft material and is hard to get into his hand. I harder plastic with a gold paint job would have looked better. Second is the armour being too big. There really is no excuse for that. Third is his web feet... I think it would have been better if he was given regular feet, with rubber swim fins that could be attached to his boots.

I should have some more stuff up soon, I've been swamped with school as of late. I like your Podcast.

Frankly I'm surprised we even got this deep into the mythos. I too posted a blog entry on the figure, though I have to say your site looks miles better than mine. I have a whole 4 posts.http://mocboxreviews.blogspot.com/20...uc-hydron.html
I'd really appreciate any feedback you guys can give.

The loss of quality is from greed. Every penny Neitlich saves due to cost cutting goes in his pocket.
Agreed, he divided and conquered the fans. He co-opted the USA's biggest MOTU fan-sites and turned it into MattyCollector Part A. His ability to lie his ass off coupled with egomania has made him the real "Un-named one".

I've seen some really nice manips of people cutting his armor down. I think I'm going to try that with one of mine. He was always a favorite figure of mine back in the day. I don't think the armor is HORRIBLE (the hose placement actually bothers me more, covering up his face) but the cut-down armor looks so much better.

Great review! Looking at those pictures, I suspect I will most likely display him without the armor on.

    Hydron Review

As one who appreciates New Adventures (never saw the cartoon as a kid but I had many of the toys) I've loved the inclusion of those characters in this line and have eagerly anticipated Hydron. Unfortunately, I think he has some real engineering/ design flaws that bring him down. I reviewed him last night, so let me know what you think.
