  • Point Dread

Now that we have a Castle Grayskull, do you think Mattel should give us a Point Dread next? Should Talon Fighter come with it as well? What other accessories should it contain? How much would you pay for it? Discuss!

Point Dread and the Talon Fighter would have to come together for it to sell well. As far as accessories go, I think it would be cool to have some removable items that could go with Point Dredd. The original had 2 cardboard cutouts that could be replaced with plastic parts now, and one cutout had a fire fighter's axe painted on it, that could be made as a removable axe for figures to use.

It would also be cool to have a laser cannon that could be placed inside Point Dread, to be fired out the window --- one similar to the red prototype laser cannon from Castle Grayskull would be a cool bonus accessory.

Great idea. Without the Talon fighter on top Point Dread, this would be cool to mount this in it's place. Castle Grayskull could duel wield it's laser cannons!
The missing small weapons rack would be a nice addition as well.

Point Dread should come with a few extra weapons.

This why I'm excited for the Icon Heroes expansion pack coming out soon. I can't wait to get that attachement for the castle.

THIS is why I love Zodac, he knows everything! Also...He has style like that prototype laser canon.

Haha, I just got that comic back (with the record) from eBay last year in almost pristine condition. It's one of my most beloved memories of the franchise.

The Talon Fighter should also include the weapons that were on the sticker behind the "seat"! ;-)

I'm not familiar with those! I'll have to check that out and see if my Talon Fighter has that sticker you speak of!

Make me a Talon Fighter & Point Dread now. I almost think it should have came with Grayskull as well. Would have been neat to see a tiered Grayskull preorder. Such as just Grayskull. Or pay a little more and get Pt Dread too. Oh well. I want one and a Snake Mt too.

It would be cool to get, but I wouldn't be enthusiastic about it - only because my Castle is so close to the ceiling in my room, I wouldn't be able to display it with the Point Dread top on it, which was always my favorite way do to it in the vintage line.

                Would anyone want this version?

                Or this version?

Or maybe a hybrid of both designs?

And this has a lot of potential to be even better.

Just the vintage toy version for me.

Original version only. The other version is meaningless to me.

I'd say it should be based on the vintage toy.
Now if they wanna make a hybrid version, the wings should be a little bigger, and the color scheme should match the vintage version.

IIRC the model kit came in variant colors of the toy. It might have just been reverse colors, I know the attack trak and Roton where like that.

This should be made as a small vehicle, about the size of the vintage one. Because we know Mattel will never make a large vehicle again anyway. So... small and a one seater. Plus, it will look better on top of Castle Grayskull if it's smaller.

I think the 4HM can make The Talon Fighter fit two figures like the old version without making it too big in size, after all it has to sit on the Point-Dread and the Castle-Grayskull without dwarfing them out of scale.

Well, I don't see how a vehicle that can hold 2 figures would look good on top of Castle Grayskull. Look at how big the Wind Raider is and that only holds one figure. Now imagine the Wind Raider perched on top of the castle... Even with the wings off, it would look too big for the castle. Naturally this is my opinion, but I wish people would take the proprtions into consideration instead of the knee jerk reaction of, "I want it to hold 2 figures or we riot." I know most people don't like and don't think the model counts, but even the model is designed to be a one seater. To each their own I guess.

The design of the nose/fuselage of the Wind-Raider is what makes it look big. The Talon's design is somehow squished in comparison, so it could be doable for the 4HM to make it work for two figure without going huge.
Myself I don't care much of how many figures it would hold so long as it looks right in scale, especially with the castle.

Now that you-know-who has left, do you think we have a greater or lesser chance of getting Point Dread and Talon Fighter?

Thanks Novelty... Honestly, it's really hard to say at this point what the future holds, probably if the full Battle-Ram sells well, we might have a better chance seeing the Point-Dread/Talon-fighter on the production belt.

Have to wait and see what the new person feels about the existing stock of Wind Raiders and Castle Grayskull. Perhaps the Talon Fighter and Point Dread can help move that stock if they did some combo deal price reduction? Pre-order Talon Fighter get Castle Grayskull for $200? IDK, it will depend on if they think Classics is worth even continuing at all in 2016.

As for the converstion regarding the cardbord cut outs and stickers as scupted stuff, I never had the cuts outs and stickers as a kid, mine came "battle dammaged" from Goodwill in 1990. I never got around to getting a replacement.

So since there is much speculation that we will be getting a Talon Fighter in 2015... and probably a Point Dread with it, I though I'd bring life to this thread again. Honestly, I am all for a Talon Fighter and Point Dread. So as the rumors go, org member BCRDuke seems to be "in the know" about many things regarding MOTUC. Anyone know how this guy seems to know so much? Is he good friends with the 4H? Does he have friends at Mattel? Is he psychic, all of the above?

Anyway, after thinking about how simple the original Talon Fighter is... I realized that a MOTUC version wouldn't be so complicated either... also from a Mattel point of view, they probably think it would be cheap to make.

What makes this different from previous MOTUC vehicles, the Talon Fighter doesn't have any inner mechanical, spring loaded, mumbo jumbo. All it is, is two halves glued together and a cockpit, perhaps a few laser cannons, a radar dish, and some wings. The interior would most likely have a seat and detailed control panels like the other MOTUC vehicles. If Point Dread is included, my guess is it will be either one or two pieces, and have a detailed computer console on the inside. Maybe to make it more interesting, it will have some additions like optional laser cannon, etc.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, some want it to hold two figures, some think it would be better suited as a one seater, for the sake of scale. I personally hope if this vehicle is actually coming... that it's a one seater. Nothing says bad ass like a lone pilot in a craft that looks like a bird of prey... no, not the Klingon one.

I am psychic too ...I have been giving away reveals since the beginning even to the point where I got kick off Matty forums for telling......BCRDuke does know people who work for Mattel. He hasn't been perfect, but he's been often right.

When I had my big convo with Val, I mentioned that Scott outright called bcrduke a liar on the frosta leaks. Val told me he liked Brian for calling out Emiliano and his nonsense then preceded to tell me that a vendor was giving up the leaks.

It would be awesome to see both versions of the Talon Fighter get made. I would want Dawg-A-Tor piloting the version seen on the model box. Would be great if the bad guys could claim one as their own too.
