Scott said the UNO was a love letter to the fans. He has also said he's the number 1 fan. So basically he's being narcissistic and is sending a love letter to himself. Okaaaaaay! Anyways, if there was a Hall... wait, shelf is probably more appropriate... if there was a shelf of Toyguru's "love letter" figures, who would be on the shelf for you? My picks: UNO, The deadpool wannabe with SEX on his forearm, The green Lantern fanboy crush figure, The god with glasses, The lieutenant.

That is not too far from reality unfortunately. I won't share the full story out of respect for the person telling it to me, but Scott indeed believes he's a bigger fan than any of us because he works on the line. He stated as much once.

He did say something similar on a forum on on Gooble once. It was something like
"Fans are important, but it's more important to have a fan on the inside, an Internal champion to be the cheerleader inside of the corporation to keep things going in the right direction. Without that things would basically suck"
That isn't a quote, hell, it's a butchered paraphrase to be honest...But he said something to that effect on the public record. I'm pretty sure it was on an Episode of the Gooble pod cast.

Scott Neitlich - "Every great project from toys to movie and a TV usually need a fan base to support it and an "internal champion" that keeps it going through the system."

Has Scott actually ever said he was the #1 MOTU fan in writing or on video? I'm sure he is a fan-of-sorts, but claiming to be the biggest MOTU fan would be nothing more than self-promotion on his part. As for that so-called love letter, I have no idea who that was written for, but the vast majority of fans have clearly rejected that letter. The Unnamed One was pretty much dead on arival."We must always value life. Even the life of one who opposes us." ― He-Man

If he says he's the biggest fan you can complain, but it won't actually change things. It takes 16 to 24 months to actually make any changes to this claim owing to logistics.

Gotta be honest I'd love to be able to talk about MOTU without thinking of or talking about Toyguru. NO former MOTU creator has eve had this amount of rhetoric thrown out about them...Not even our patron saints Lou Scheimer, Roger Sweet, Mark Tayler and Ted Mayer...Why is that? Talking about the stupid shit Toyguru says really drains my enthusiam for talking about MOTU...Yet...I am talking about him. I hate me! Why do we continue to give him this power over us? I think it is time for a toyguru free zone or something...Last edited by Shawn; 05-23-2014, 12:33 AM.

While I understand the dilemma we're in and it became a little old for most of us here, I think it also has become a habit of some sort to vent out a little where we're not subjected to deletion or ban!
Also, it shows those who have supported him in the past that they're clearly on the wrong side of the equation. Not mentioning constatly TG's crap might even make things worse down the road.

I honestly believe The Unnamed One is a love letter to the fans and to the mythos.
I also believe that the Mighty Spector is a love letter to the fans and to the mythos.

Toygurus shelf:
-Mighty Spector on Battle Lion
-Lieutenant Spector Palace Guard
-Lieutenant Spector head on Mighty Spector
-Lieutenant Spector head on He-Man
-Lieutenant Spector head on Horde Trooper
-prototype of the upcoming "Huh?!" figure
-repainted NA He-Man (his Dare and basically what we'll get down the road)
-Nephtu
-UNO
That would be the most boring and wrong MotUC shelf I can think of.

Sure I get that hence: my whole "in Mattel system" running gag. I have to admit I thought that would stick...
I'm just of two minds. One says be the Anti-Troll, but that is consuming both in regards to time and mentally. I'd rather he just GO THE **** AWAY so that we can be done with the toyguru era...

He arguably has the most at stake when it comes to the line's success, since it's his job on the line. So if you understand biggest fan that way--a legitimate way of understanding it, if not the way most people would use the term--he's right. I think most people, though, use it to denote a combination of affection, dedication and knowledge. If that's the case, Neitlich falls far behind many.
Personally, once Eldor's out in October, all I really want out of the guy is any more pages of those "Secrets of Grayskull" memos from the SDCC art book that he might have on hand. There are figures I'll buy if they do them well, but my 'must haves' will be complete.

See, at this point, his "job" is not in jeopardy. He is Mattel management now. Unfortunately he has already proven he is successful with MattyCollector and the Subscription model - along with outsourcing Custom Service and Shipping to Digital River. Include no Marketing budget, with Pixel Dan and the ORG doing all the free pub.
He will just move to a different brand in El Segundo.
After next year, his "Road Map" is complete, and then he will promise the moon and the stars on what he could make if people blindly sub again. I have a feeling that is what the polls are for.
