  • New Sub fears

It's January... which means we will be getting a new sub for those of us who have subscribed. How many of you are worried that DR will mess up your subs this January? I know they did that to me last year *sigh* I had to make a number of phone calls to get my subs delivered to me. It's a good thing I had DHL shipping. I hope I don't have to do that again.

There is always a possibility that my sub may not renew due to some DR screw up. I actually gave this some thought... if my sub doesn't go through, I won't do anything. I can't be bothered calling DR and dealing with some inept moron, trying to resolve the issue. I will consider it an omen to stop collecting.

I somehow agree with Anti-Guru, I won't bother with fixing the issue with DR if something goes wrong with my sub, I'd just end up being a cherry picker and/or get the figures that I want from the secondary market like eBay and such.

The new sub fear for me is I chose quarterly shipping. Who knows how many ways DR can screw things up holding on to items for three months at a time.
Personally I haven't had any problems, but there's been enough horror stories reported to have me worried.

The savings on shipping charges are worth the risk.....I hope

My credit card expires this month. I got a new card last month, updated on the website, called them and they said it's updated. But I still don't feel fully confident it'll be ok. No faith in DR, whatsoever! If Mattel could get a better company to take our money, I'd feel at ease. After 5 plus years, it's incredible DR has not been replaced.

It should go okay if it's the same card with a new expiration number, I've done it before without even calling them, and went smoothly without hiccups.

Cool, thanks! I updated once a few years ago with no problem, but I had seen that some folks have had trouble even with the same CC in the last year. When I called Matty, they showed the new date/CV code.

Same here about having no problems updating my card, which expired last March. Just had to update the expiration date and had no problems.

With DR there is always a fear. The list is truly forever on how bad things have gone with this company. I really wish things go smoothly for all sub holders.

I called DR a few days ago to get my shipping address changed. For some reason, rather than this being a simple fix of "Okay I can change your address." it was escalated and I got a ticket number. So I am concerned it will go to my old address which thankfully is my mom's address the downside though is that my mom lives about an hour away from me and that's a drive.

EDIT and Update! Just got an email from Matty Collector VIP that my sub wasn't reinstated because my card was declined. The money is in there. I honestly fail to understand why they had to cancel my sub just to change an address. There's no need for it. It should be a simple fix that doesn't involve subs being cancelled.

This is exactly why I don't call them for anything, nor do I go on matty to change any info. You never know what will happen.

I also picked quarterly shipping. I have had a sub since the beginning and have never had an issue. I have even had a card expire and was able to fix it with no issues. I have read the horror stories from others. I just keep my fingers crossed.

Well, it looks like my involvement in classics may be coming to an end. The local eBay buyer I purchase from has told me they have taken his money for this years subs, cancelled his order, told him to wait 5-7 days for a refund and then reorder his subs. I think he will last to the unnamed one and then cancel everything. Listening to what he has to go through every year, I don't blame him if he does

Here is a tip for everyone to follow... NEVER and I mean NEVER call DR about anything. Only deal with them via email, and particularly only deal with Matty Collector VIP by email. They are the escalation unit so go directly to them. If they ever ask you to phone, refuse and say you will only deal with them via email. This is the approach I've taken and honestly, I don't have issues with anything anymore. When I have a problem, they resolve it pretty much asap. The problems comes when you call in and are forced to talk to someone who is totally clueless, doesn't get paid to think, and couldn't care less about helping you.

Is there any direct email/contact with Matty Collector VIP?... It would be much appreciated it.

Just use the contact feature on mattycollector. Indicate exactly what the problem is in a clear and professional business type format... then someone will email you, and you can actually respond back and forth with the person. DM is right, email is the best way to get fast results. PLUS... your creating a paper trail.
