Which is why I'm fairly certain they don't use it anymore, because we turned it into a meme to mock them! They should sell Pinata of it. I"D SO BUY a Matty "Mattel" Pinata head...
-
That's probably the worst mascot ever, whoever came with that awful design should be imprisoned in a dungeon filled with broken toys and a couple of disturbed clowns for at least a year!

There are no wasted "SKU"s. This is a Nutlickerism. A wasted opportunity, where effort could have been put into something people actual want. yes.

The price on these guys is going UP for 2015, as the Snake Mountain facade is the club exclusive, and no longer included in the $20/$32 packs.

They could have been unarticulated, the weapons sculpted in hand, and been a lot cheaper. These could have caught on as something Matty offered online for cheap as something to give the little ones who are too small for MOTUC, a nice add-on purchase. or blind bagged at retail. Instead, they are going after the "cute" import/vinyl crowd, or fans of the game, both of which aren't going to buy these. I think they thought that people would be all over these. Sadly they're too expensive for everyone, especially if they don't interact with the game, which is something I've been asked by a couple friends who saw them and wanted to know why they were so much.
Whoever thought these were a better idea than an Imaginext line (something people have been asking about for 5 years now) or a M.U.S.C.L.E. / Green Army Men-style line (way cheap and profitable, just like Hasbro and everyone else has been doing for their properties over the last 1-2 years) is simply too dumb to be employed. These should have come out around the game launch, now they'll sit around unwanted until they're reasonably priced during a sale.
Here's another MOTU idea people keep asking for:
Diecast Hot Wheels versions of the classic MOTU vehicles.
Not 70's creeper conversion vans or el caminos with graphics on the side, the actual vehicles. Hasbro did this for GIJOE in the early 80's. There, now instead of doing regular cars with corny MOTU graphics on the sides, there is something people actually want!

If they just brought the price down $5 per two pack, I would reconsider. Imagine how popular if these where $10 blind bags and just something you could add to any purchase?

Scott Neitlich is now saying that if the Club Mini MOTU doesn't reach its minium sales goal in October, the minis sub will be canceled.

Guest repliedHaha I like how he says that they are "exploding" and "are getting bigger and bigger".... But from what Ive been hearing, these things havent been selling as much as Matty would like them. If thats true, then these things may end up going the Big Lot route...

So I priced out the catch up bundle on Matty and what starts at $120 jumps up to $165 with shipping and taxes, plus those of us in Canada could expect a minimum $30 import duties charge, pricing these at approximately $200.
$200 divided by 10 figures is $20 per figure. That is insane for something that is tiny and barely articulated. What a joke.

I think if the minis were released earlier in the line, or the MOTUC line was at a better cost, they would have sold beyond expectations. People are just bogged down. $700 a year subs on toys + add ons? The average person with children, mortgage and car payments can't commit to this. Its insanity to ask more money for this line, and then throw out another line on the cusp of a new year and potential price hike.
There is really nothing wrong with the mini line per say. They are cute and collectible, like everything. Heck, even I Shit My Diaper Skeletor appealed to 'some' people... but people are tapped out. A consumer conscious person would know that.

If these were MOTU Imaginext I could buy for my son at the price point that line is in the stores, I'd have bought them all by now. These things are too expensive, and I'd rather spend that money on MOTUC figures that both my son and I can enjoy.
EDIT: Stupid question to those of you who pay more attention than me. Was there an attempt like this from Scott to understand why the fans didn't buy into Wind Raider as much as they expected? My memory's telling me no, but I'm not 100% certain. People left and right keep asking for vehicles and drooled all over that Battle Ram that was done "just for fun", but WR's crappy performance basically seals the deal on "no more vehicles". SO am I to understand correctly that because Scott and company want to keep making minis, but fans are coming back and saying they don't really want to buy them, that warrants this outreach?
Not to be an outright basher or finger-pointer, but this coupled with Baby Skeletor just speaks volumes about Scott's blatant selfishness when it comes to MOTU. I haven't been this disgusted by handling the brand since that whole art book fiasco at SDCC.Last edited by wallbie; 06-20-2014, 04:05 AM.

Well, the funny thing is, he believes that his video could help a little! Yeah, who could say no to that adorable face?

People are speaking with their wallets. They don't want to buy crap. Yes, there are people out there who like collecting the Mini-Masters, but its pretty obvious that most MOTU fans are not interested in the line.

I'm working on a theory but I need to know something, are the Mini Masters sculpted by the Four Horsemen?

Sounds more like the suits are coming down heavy on him cause his great idea is failing miserably, and asking if the main line is eating everyone's budget,HUH he already knows the answer to that.
