I said it way back when calls for no DoS first appeared, cherry pickers and subbers are both funding the line, not just the subbers who think they are the be all and end all of this line, well maybe we're about to find out.
What free gift? The Map? The Mini comic? We pay for that out of the budget they give them selves. It just FEELS like it's free because like RZ said, we don't know the numbers or how all that really breaks down. "it's built into the cost" as Scott spoke about the possibility of No DOS figures. EVERYTHING is built into the cost. We all pay for this stuff, subbber and cherry picker alike as you say.

I take it you can easily afford these toys? I can not. I guess RZ is right, because Indeed I do feel a LITTLE entitled considering as much as I feel like I am paying for these toys. If the price isn't that much for YOU, I can certainly understand your feelings. Customized figures are WAY more expensive, and not everyone can swing that. Besides, I like something i can "play with".

I didn't mean to sound like a rich arrogant asshole and am truely sorry if I did. I can afford two subscriptions and I have cut back on other hobbies because these toys are important to me. You can check out my posting history here and on the org to see that I do care a lot about when there are flaws with figures because it's hard earned money I'm spending on them.
That last comment about buying from customisers really is about figures that I really, really, need to feel my collection is complete. If they don't release Charger, I'll probably ask a guy to make one for me. There might be two or three others.
I bought Bad Vermin's manhole cover but I'll probably pass on Point Dread because of the $$$

I didn't mean to sound like I was implying you where being a "a rich arrogant *******" so please do not apologize. Sorry if I sounded judgmental, i just meant it as an observation/point of order. That's why I used the smile and different strokes song. I didn't want you to feel like I was attacking you.

I'm with you on Teela's Horse (I think charger was a description less then a name, but that's debatable) I hope that Arrow is based off the Filmation look, as it would be more easy to just change out the saddle and stick a unicorn horn on it's head.

I am going to say that the sub will go through. If I have learned one thing about MOTU fandom, it is that there is not shortage of lambs eager to be slaughtered in it.

I want the stands and I have always sub for 3x. So I might as well do it early to get the stands. It's not because I've fallen prey to their scare tactics, I haven't. The line will go through anyways. I guess I'll be called a dirty subber or a matty apologist or something, so be it.

Get a subscription and you’ll have the chance to purchase some of our hottest items before non-subscribers, like our 2014 traveling convention figure, Goat Man™, the insanely fast-selling Baby Skeletor®, and more!
Not all Club Eternia® items are offered to the general public. If you’re a subscriber, you’ll never have to worry about missing out on great figures like 2014’s Fang Man™
They've got to be ****ing kidding. So now Baby Skeletor is a sub lure? But wait, I thought it was for an entirely different market? "Fast-selling"? Only because you made 5 of them. Missing out on figures? Only for a time, because rest assured, even exclusives will show up for sale later... and then be at Big Lots after that.

If they want to scare me into subbing they should release a statement like "If you are a 2014 sub holder and do not sub up for 2015 we'll send you a free Baby Skeletor". That thing is so creepy I'd buy three extra subs just to make sure it never comes near to my house.

You won't be called that by me. I've subbed before. We should all do what we want, and what makes us happy. You want the stands and are happy with what you're getting, that's cool.

We all have our levels of tolerance and what we are willing to put up with morally with this stuff. I have friends who would never, ever buy a Mattel product, because of their past dishonesty and hazardous products, etc. I have friends who collect but would never, ever collect a new or modern toy, only vintage- again for moral/ethical reasons.

It's when you think something is morally wrong, but you pull the trigger and buy it anyway, that is where the gray line starts and things become difficult. Your own personal wants vs. your own personal code, no one can or should dictate these things to you.

These are toys and they make us happy. No one likes to be told what they are doing is bad. No one! But if you know your purchase encourages behavior you despise, then that is when thought is required. It's a little tough to stomach things when, for example, someone rants all week about how, say, Best Buy is an evil corporation, but then goes there on Saturday afternoon and buys a new TV because it was $5 off. They don't even out- it's just hypocritical.

For me, I have no problem with fellow fans, and I myself buy a few MOTUC as they come out or from re-sellers, or from the site- but I don't think it's morally right to sub anymore, I just think it perpetuates a morally bankrupt system at this point that takes advantage of us so a few scumbag dudes in California can buy a new iPhone or whatever trite object is cool this week.

And I agree with my fellow forum members. A "matty apologist" is someone who will do just about anything to stand up for Mattel's dubious practices. They lie, trick and troll fellow fans just to make way for more lying and incompetence from Mattel/Scott's part.

I don't see it in you Novelty, so rest assured you're not an apologist.

As for "dirty subber" I agree with _RZ_, you do whatever you want and be happy with it. But be warned that by doing so you're setting yourself to get screwed by Mattel, just take the NA Skeletor shoulder issue as the latest example.

Personally I can't support/tolerate that kind of behavior, and that's why I don't sub and probably won't be buying any more figures...

Well, I've got my 3 subs... might as well get it over and done with, right? I sub because when the line started in 2008, I made the promise to myself that I will not get any MotUC from a 3rd party, and I've kept the promise to myself. I sub because whatever horrible figure they put out, as a double completist, I want it as part of my collection - one for MOC, one to open, and a third to use as custom fodder (yes, I have 3 subs, have had 3 subs, and will have 3 subs). Will Mattel screw me over? Sure, but that's part and parcel of life and I can live with that.

Should I sub and indirectly support Mattel's bad practise? Well, let me put it this way. If I don't like the way Ford sells cars, I can always go get a Toyota or a Mercedes or another car maker. If I don't like the way Mattel made Extendar, then my options are... erm... close to non-existant. Like it or not, I have to get Extendar from Mattel, either directly or indirectly (i.e. via a reseller), because they are the only ones making Extendar. So I don't really have a choice, IMO. Might as well, just bite the bullet, be the sadist and go with the pain, all for the sake of being a double completist. *sigh* I'm definitely hoping for the end of the line in 2015, and that 2016 should really be just quarterly day-of figures and an SDCC figure...

However I would like to point out that being a zombie, I did make the difficult choice of not buying MOTU however that was more a choice of "well I could buy More MOTU or pay rent" not exactly a choice either right? Thank GOD (no literally: I do indeed thank GOD) that thouse days are behind me...

If TG had even the slightest sense of consumer relations, and decency (which he clearly does not), he would be offering a free figure. Yes, a free $27 figure. Much like the free Mer-Man apology (for whatever error that was, I can't even remember), there would be a free figure to say THANK YOU for your support.

Perhaps an unannounced He-Man movie variant, a surprise 2 pack of He-Man and Skeletor with some crazy paint decos, or something that would make people go "Wow! Thanks!", not these cheap stands that no one wants. For 5+ years of loyalty, marred with BS, here is a single awesome release that you deserve.

Its obvious this is just warehouse stock from and unsold, poorly thought out cash grab. The free Mer-Man gift was clearly just left over CS stock, but hey, at least its awesome leftovers.

Oh thank god I'm not the only one who sees this! Good god every time I see that guy I just want to punch him... like seriously want to punch him. Keep in mind that I have not punched anyone since I was about 10 years old. Also keep in mind that I am a dedicated pacifist. But with Scooter, yes, I have an incredible urge to punch him. His curled up snarly lips and smarmy expressions. Total and complete nerd that makes any reasonable person see red.

But at least it gives us some perspective on why this guy acts the way he does. There is no doubt that he was picked on and bullied his whole life and so he used boastfulness and lies to try and win friends like most pathetic people do. Under normal circumstances I would probably feel sorry for him, but in this case I don't. I just want to punch his face over and over.

I truly hate violence, and punching or hitting someone is only excused to defend oneself, however when some people like this asshole use their corrupt powers and position to hurt others blatantly, they deserve a physical punishment IMO to humiliate them and knock down their arrogance, at least in theory... I know it is not right at all, but neither is the abuse of lying and the constant cheating!

Well sadly I love this line more than my pride (only when it comes to this) so I am subbing again.
Yet I will never understand or comprehend the level of poorly managed, executed ideas and system of business that ran this property. It's a shame as it has led to fans' departures, friendships broken, sales declining and people wishing for it to end on a yearly basis. This was one of my first complete toy lines and the stories in getting it meant to me something some may or may not understand. So I will continue to sub and hey even hope there is more to come as ridiculous some of the characters and concepts (and IMO thery're only so because the lack of creativity to make them interesting is not present) have been ( I STILL LOATHE Cy-Chop but have found a way to work him in acceptably).
The stands well hey if I can order by the time they're still there fine doesn't matter to me I gonna order when I can cause I will see this to the end. I understand what I'm getting myself into and know it's my dollars so hey I only have myself to blame but will when applicable point the finger of ridicule when necessary as it may help the agony of ongoing issues and problems that have yet to be fixed or possible be new ones altogether....

Mattel is as Mattel does...the broken friendships is the thing that truly perplexes me. But then, I don't take sides in other people's fights, nor do I hold grudges or makes list of my enemies because as far as I know I don't have any. That other people do that confuses and saddens me

To each his own. For me, the things I will do (and won't do) morally, are more important that having a complete collection. And I couldn't justify being critical online of Scott and Mattel when I'm giving them my credit card to sub, knowing what's been said and the past actions, because in effect I would be funding and further encouraging that mess. I can't justify that after last year's games and this year's disrespect. I will buy them as I want them, but I don't think giving Scooter my blind support is worth it, even if I do get that Dragstor figure. If I want complete vintage collection, then I can buy the vintage line. I don't think letting a company take advantage of you in the name of OCD is a good idea. But that's me. To each their own.

This only serves to prove how much deception was in place all along, how we are patsies to Scott, and he NEVER had any fear of not meeting sub. If they can guarantee a max # of slots then they know the minimum they will get, as they have known before but chose to scare everybody into last minute subbing to make more money. I swear to god if I ever see that guy in public I will end up in jail.

They are already producing the figures, that's why there is a limit. All 2015 figures are finished and more or less in production right now. And only 6500 subs available? BS. They might have 6500 stackable stands in stock and don't expect the subs to sell out before SDCC.

So if we hit the production number there will be no d-o-s in 2015, if we don't, then there will be. But they just cannot go back into production on, say the first three figures if they are already made.

Does Mattycollector actually have a 500 per person limit on subs? How is that even concocted? No one has $400'000 dollars to spend on MOTUC. Not even a major retailer would take that risk.

If I could be guaranteed a way to getting my $26 fee back, I would sign up for 1000 subs between my two credit cards and then cancel the day before the figures shipped just to mess with them. Then everyone would have DOS stock.

                        Here check it out yourself:

As for the messing with Matty with that kinda big amount, they just might pursue some type of legal action against you for not sticking with your commitment as stated in the contact that you cannot cancel once you sign up, of course there could be a decent loophole to get out of it other than "I lost my credit card" type of claim! However if let's say a 1000+ of customers do the same trick, I doubt Mattel would waste their legal money to track all those claims!

Someone should let the good people at 4Chan know about this genius troll move. Kill the Sub model!
