Yeah, I dislike the plug-in parts too. Rio Blast is a freaky cyber cowboy, the wells were part of his look. They were built into him and not removable. Otherwise he's just another dude with guns. Just as Snout Spout can't remove his creepy cyberfreak head, Rio can't remove the lasers from his creepy cyberlap...“What is freedom of expression? It surprised me that they didn't give him an open chest like the original figure. If they had created an open chest for this figure, they could have used the same tooling for Buzz Saw Hordak as well.

I know right Captain Atkin!?!? That is one of the most surprising aspects that did not happen with this dude.

It's figures like this that make me think "why even bother making a classics version" This is a downgrade from vintage
At the very least I think they should have made sticker or tampo whatever, to simulate the open cavity. A good piece of art would have at least simulated depth. As it stands, RZ is correct, he doesn't feel much like a cyborg anymore. :/
I like that the tubes are removable.
I would have preferred the vintage hair style.
This armor looks to be the most fat to me. The trend f smaller heads really throws off the proportions.
I also would have preferred a tank top undershirt like on King Grayskull.
I wish I had more positive things to say, especially since I LOVE the original toy!
To the criticism that a coyboy, at that a Space Cowboy doesn't fit on Eternia, don't forget he isn't one. It's a big universe, full of aliens, robots, astronauts, knights, fire fighters, ninjas and cowboys. That's a bigger universe then JUST Frazetta theme. Though yes, the styles do indeed clash a bit, but that's just because so many different people created this stuff.Last edited by Shawn; 07-14-2014, 09:04 PM.

I would´ve prefered more vintage look especially the haircut, but sticking to the open hands, i do not understand. Just one closed one, so he could finally hold something, or ride the Sky Sled, would´ve been an update. Well whatever, Mattels execution is not the best on this one anyway. Goes on the back of the shelf.Last edited by JimPansen; 07-15-2014, 04:30 PM.

Considering the bulky armor can be attested to the idea he is a walking weapon arsenal, it's not too big an issue. As much as I like His Sam Elliott head, I would like the original since it's supposed to be kept in a certain aesthetic.... RIGHT SCOTT?!!! :triklops:

So there is a protruding piece on the inside for the red gun to connect too, but they didn't think to drill a hole in the silver part of the chest for it to snap on too? WTH? I never planned on having him with the chest guns exposed, so it look like I'll probably be glueing it down with crazy glue. Lame.

Seriously.... is no one at Mattel Design paying attention to this stuff? The figure can't even put its right arm down in the package! In both of these pictures, you can see the right arm doesn't rest as far down as the left one does. Its at an odd angle. That is just freaking ridiculous. The armor makes the figure look fat, and doesn't allow its arms to rest naturally at its sides. This is an epic fail. Mattel really should be producing new armors for collectors to replace these "fat armors", because this SHIT is inexcusable. We are getting ripped of huge with this crap.

Thank you very much Mattel for running your own brand into the ground just so your sad excuse of a brand manager can have a shot at some kind of illusionary glory...Last edited by barrasco; 07-21-2014, 02:04 PM.“Freedom of speech doesn't protect speech that you like, freedom of speech protects speech that you hate." ― Ron Jeremy

While I think that SOME of these figures are "definitive" IMO, your right it certainly doesn't apply to all of them.
Man-At-Arms springs to mind as "definitive". Mattel cared when they where trying to woo us. Now they have us and they can be lazy cause they don't apprentice us any more. The spark is gone out of the relationship LOL.

What's the point of making the shirt flap articulated if it doesn't even close all the way? It just looks stupid and lazy. I mean, the person doing the engineering of these panels couldn't take a few minutes out of the day and look at their work for a second? Double check it a bit?
I don't want to personally insult the people working on these toys, but seriously, there are millions of qualified people worldwide looking for employment; you'd think that the people who work at Mattel with their cushy jobs would respect their privileged place in life, respect the people buying their products, and maybe have a little pride in their work in between lunch breaks, and not turn out stuff like this. There are tons of talented people just wishing for a job like the ones these folks at Matty have. Do they even care what they're doing, or is it their sovereign right to be paid to do the bare minimum? How much lazier can you get? No one saw this Rio Blast as having issues and no one stopped and said, "Hey, maybe this isn't so great, and we should fix it." This type of stuff is why people stop collecting this line. The 4H do great work, and then some lazy office drone messes it all up because they're too lazy or bitter or who knows why. Mattel could have reissued these things for decades to kids and fans would have eaten it up, they're some of the best figures ever made. Instead some idiot can't be bothered to problem solve a bit because, why, they'd have to click their mouse a few more times that day or stay late 5-10min?
How many thousands of dollars in work hours were put into sculpting and designing this Rio Blast figure? Because it was all just put into the toilet bowl because somebody got lazy. Just flick the handle and flush all that money down the drain. If I still had stock in Mattel, I'd be royally pissed that my investment in their company was being wasted like this. They could have just had him permanently with all the panels open and non-moving and saved themselves some money and their customers this downer feeling. I mean, you might as well glue all the guns down in place, as you can't display him properly all closed up now. Ok, you could dremel that peg off, but honestly, I'd have to buy a second figure at $30+ and cut it apart just to get it to do what it should have from the start? That's just stupid. This was easily the most requested figure left, people were excited for this one...Last edited by _RZ_; 07-21-2014, 05:36 PM.“What is freedom of expression? There's only one thing I truly H-A-T-E with MOTUC, and that is blatant dishonesty:
Originally posted by about Rio Blast at the Matty forumsQuestion: Why doesn't his chest flap lay flush against his chest?
Looks odd to me, always hanging forward and never completely closed.
Answer: The unbuttoned look on his flap is a detail that came directly from the vintage figure.“Freedom of speech doesn't protect speech that you like, freedom of speech protects speech that you hate." ― Ron Jeremy

That is quite the insulting answer. Whoever answered that must not have passed the 5th grade, and should not be employed if their job is reading, writing, or understanding. But par for the course at this point. I really honestly hate to say the sentiment "This person should be fired" because it's cruel and over the top. But it's kind of over the top too, that someone can either be so stupid, or so dishonest, and still be employed in the world today.“What is freedom of expression? Without the freedom to offend, it ceases to exist."― Salman Rushdie
