  • Does Mattel answer fan questions from sites other than the Org now?

I was told to go check out the latest Mattel answers over there and what a vast improvement in the tone and professionalism in the answers provided by someone other than Neitlich. Not really much new info provided, but an air of honesty and even acknowledgement of past inconsistencies that was refreshing.

I was curious if Mattel answers questions still from other sites as well?
MGM, I'm calling you out. You were always so good at knowing which sites submitted questions & who got answers.

I've got to say, I'm looking forward to reading more answers from this new person. It's a good start and it would be nice to see the scare tactics be a thing of the past, as well as the secrecy just for the sake of secrecy.(too many times it seemed that Neitlich would not announce something obvious, just so he could wait to the last second and say something to the effect "look what I did for you guys!")

    1. Will we ever receive the fan-demanded Starburst She-Ra?

There's no reason that it wouldn’t happen, just depends on when. If the fan demand is high enough I am sure that would keep her at the top of the list for the upcoming lines.

    2. We were told that Filmation Hordak received a redeco'd "Classics" head because making a Filmation inspired version would break the aesthetic of MOTUC. Yet, Snake Armor He-Man and Battle Armor King Hiss both received 200X inspired heads that were stylistically different than the "Classics" version. Would you please explain why your aesthetic rule applied to one and not the other two?

To be honest that is a great question, and I wish I had a great answer for you. All I can say is that moving forward we hope to have better consistency with design and marketing direction. We have definitely taken note of these concerns and hope to find exciting ways to make sure you get the product and answers that you are asking for.

    3. You stated you could not comment on a possible MOTUC's type rebranding for 2016 untill you saw how 2015 performed. Since 2015 met 100% of its goal, are there now any plans in the works for more characters using the MOTUC's buck structure in 2016 even if it's just one or two mini-sub offerings?

With the 2015 MOTUC line we will have completed all of the Vintage MOTU figures from the original line, but that does not mean that we stop creating MOTU figures with the MOTUC buck. 2016 is in the works, and may be branded something else, but it will still be based around the 6" MOTUC form factor you have come to love. We still have tons of MOTU characters to bring to life, as long as you guys still want to collect them!

    4. Could Blast-Attak at least have removable arms like Trap Jaw and Optikk? And could other features be introduced too such as a waist joint like King Hssss had? I would appreciate as many detachable components to Blast-Attak as possible to mimic the spirit of the vintage toy.

Because of the use of shared tooling for many of Blast Attacks parts we were not able to make his limbs removable. It's always a tough choice when to include the vintage features in the new figures, and we try when ever we have the opportunity and it makes sense for the figure.

    5. In an earlier post on MattyCollector.com, Toyguru spoke about moving the brand forward. There are characters created by Mattel that have gotten no chance to shine because they have not been featured in anything. The ones I speak of specifically are Tufos and Horde Lord which have had no artwork. We also have very poor visuals for others like Goldenrod, Snarrrlll the Snow Thief, Strettch Nek, Vypor, Spin Whiz, and Beast Lord. What is Mattels future plan to introduce these characters they created into the mythos in order to move the brand forward? Thanks!

We are always looking for compelling ways to introduce new characters into the mythos, so when the time is right and it makes sense we will. All I can say is if the line continues from 2016- and on, we will want to make sure there is always a mix of classic and fresh characters in the content as well as the product.

I noticed the difference in tone and the between-the-lines acknowledgement of the misstep with Filmation Hordak.

Wow, that sounds respectful. What a change for the better!

Yeah, although answer #2 is kind of throwing Neitlich's leadership under the bus (they must have picked up that adorable trait from him), it appears they actually bothered to read and comprehend the entire question (something Neitlich failed to do thousands of times) and answer it without insulting the fans intelligence.

Got to love that line "all I can say, is that moving forward we hope to have better consistency with design and marketing direction".
That is basically saying "in the future we won't say one thing then change it on a whim, like the last guy did,
Sorry guys, he was a bit of a egomaniac, and don't worry we have wrote in Spectors death in the last mini comic '

I wanted to make a post about this the other day, but I forgot!... Well I agree here that the tone was an improvement from TG's snarky style. And let's hope there will be more transparency in Mattel's answers in the future.

My main hope is there will be far less inconsistencies.
I grew so tired of reading one answer to justify a decision, only months (sometimes days) later see that same reasoning used to justify the exact opposite decision.

I don't blame the new folks for throwing him under the bus. In his parting statement he tried to take credit for everything: past, present, and future MOTUC. That is really insulting to the team members left behind who continue the work.

Glad to see the new team paying attention to the Q&A and the respectful tone taken.
These are exactly the mature, adult type of answers the fandom deserves after so many years of being insulted.

Telling the truth =/= "throwing under the bus."

I agree, sometimes telling the truth requires putting blame where it belongs. In this case, Scott clearly wasn't telling the truth, as par for the course. The current MOTUC should clear that past up whenever possible, at least out of respect for the customers who buy this stuff and pay for the meals they eat and the roof over their heads.

            Here I am, Croc!

While I don't know for certain, sites like TheFwoosh, Kastorskorner.com, ActionFigureInsider.com, itsalltrue.net, Hordak.de, The Great Rebellion and preternia.com haven't gotten in answered questions in quite some time. With the Vintage figures wrapping up, He-Man.org might be one of the only sites that STILL care to ask questions. TG's stock answer systems just turned so many fans off that they stopped asking questions. Ask Matty helped kill the Q&A's too. You get answers much quicker than bi-monthly Q&A's.

Now that TG is gone and the stock answer system is also gone, maybe it's a good time to ask Mattel for some Q&A's?

I never once considered sending in questions when TG was in charge. Now that he is gone, I would be open to sending fan questions in the future if members wanted to send some. I can't guarantee they would be answered by Mattel, but I'd give it a shot

Oh, I definitely don't blame them at all, for the exact same reasons you mentioned. I just thought it would be a tad hypocritical of me while giving them kudos to not point it out, since I've always condemned Neitlich for constantly doing the same thing.

Yah, these answers don't have that old feeling of "your just a fan, stfu and just appreciate your getting anything until my next contradiction.. Woops, I mean you're"

              Pretty cool, huh!

I have a great question! Anyone active there, please go ahead and ask if we can expect his face sculpted on a MOTUC toy? Or are all the SKU's for ugly brand managers all been exhuasted?

Tufos, Horde Lord, Goldenrod, Snarrrlll the Snow Thief, Strettch Nek, Vypor, Spin Whiz, and Beast Lord."
What? Huh? Who the heck is this guy talking about?

I was hoping the Flesh Coloured Alcala Startos would have been a Pre-Ternia Avian! This would have been how their race looked before the were subjected to the changes in environment and were forced to leave the Vine Jungle and make their home in the clouds... Which eventually altered their physiology and also making them create the flight packs....

Sky, if TG wanted Tufos to be Alcala Stratos, that's fine. I doubt he would be "Tufos" on a Pre-Filmation fan's shelf. It's the same way some people look at Oo-Larr --it's the original version of He-Man, not "Oo-Larr".

                Hey, why not.
If they actually answered CriticalMess' questions about DCUC, despite them spewing venom back in the day, they why not MOTU questions from here?
Worst they can say is no, right?
Besides, with Neitlich gone, he was the one we critiqued the most.... and why should Mattel give a $#!% what we think about Vile and the .org, so they shouldn't hold that against us either.

hordak.de will be doing new q&a rounds soon. I stopped them a year ago because the answers have all been the same: rude, uninformative, without real info.

I agree... I doubt anyone would have gotten upset with you for no longer doing the Q&A. It's a lot of work to put those together, especially when in the past many of the answers were disrespectful, dishonest, or simply responding in a completely incorrect context.

Glad to see you're going to be sending in questions again. I have a lot of hope that the Q&As will have a different tone, and a lot more informative from now on.
