So I was looking at my Mekaneck figure today and noticed this:





The blue paint on his bicep has actually transferred to his armor. WTF.

The black plastic figures are NOT going to age well.

So just get some cheap acrylic paint, a $1 brush and fix it.

People shouldn't have to customize their toys to fix them for poor quality-control issues. And as he mentioned, some of the blue paint transferred to the red armor. I have had that happen to a couple of my figures now, and it is difficult to remove (especially if paint has transferred to another part of the figure that is painted). Acrylic paint will come off easier then the factory paint, so that is really just a band-aid solution.

Cheap paint tends to have a rough texture after it dries. I'd have to get some better paint than that to do a good job of it - and matching paint color exactly is a PITA and takes a lot of mixing and experimenting to get right. And even then, it will be less durable than the factory paint. It's not something I should HAVE to do.

This is really just a head's up for others. Apparently you can't have Mekaneck's bicep touching his armor for any extended period of time. Maybe some kind of protective clear coat would work as a preventative for this.

In this case it's probably better to clean it off with a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol.

No, just on a shelf in my office. Climate controlled. The easiest way to prevent it is to make sure the biceps don't rest against the armor. Maybe there is some kind of clear coat that could go on the armor that would have prevented it, I don't know

Some of the DCUC figures with painted over black suffer from this too, or the "white chalk dust." I've noticed spots on some of mine that were black plastic that have marks from them simply being left in a pose for more than two or three months. I live in a very hot dry place so I expect it to happen to my own stuff, but with the black plastic it's going to happen regardless. I feel for you man.
