Skeletor’s Love Child has posted another cool reveal at the MattyCollector forum. King Chooblah (AKA the Kulatak Elder) is scheduled to be the September Club 200X figure! Check out this awesome figure designed by the Four Horsemen!

Don't even want a sub, just that one figure. Mostly to fix it in a particular pose and add on to an already neat figure - but I've always liked the Kulatak design. 4H made the best of it (kind of wish you could pose his mouth though).

Looks good but, the waist looks too thin, if the fur around the waist was thicker and went up higher it would have helped ,

Yeah, this one and the butt wings Sorceress look way too anime. I think the other 200X entries hit the sweet spot in their looks. This one just does not really fit as well, IMO.

I hear what you're saying Draego, the thing is, Filmation is the opposite of the 200X/MYP when it comes to style, one looks almost too plain, and the other looks a bit too detailed or too edgy (Anime like) if you will. So you gotta put that in perspective.

I don't think the 200X fans will be too happy with some watered down versions of their favorite characters.

I think what's doing it here is the body's 200x out of proportion shape. His feet and forearms/hands are so ridiculously oversized, I wonder how this will stand up over time without a display stand. I'm sure its close to the 200x source, but I don't remember this character at all. The whole 200x anime-influence of these type of exaggerated proportions are what I'm not into in my MOTU- I can understand why they went this way, it's how he looked on the show (I guess?) but they could have made him "fit in better" IMO by using the Beast Man hairy arms with some type of smaller "cover" and making the new feet and hands a lot smaller.

Most of MOTUC has been based around the semi-realistically styled, 1970's influenced cross-sell art, and past 200x figures such as Marzo, or NA figures like Optik, have had their NA or 200x influence turned down a bit to "fit better" the MOTUC aesthetic. To me proportion is more important than detail. If you have a perfectly proportioned figure, the lack of detail/paint might not be such a big deal. If Filmation Teela's head is too small for the MOTUC buck, then it doesn't matter how much detail is put in or not- it's still small and negates all that other stuff. Yes I know, we all know, vintage MOTU figures were completely out of proportion. But MOTUC is much more on point with this, and I think when you have guys like this, the 200x "giant shoulderpads, giant swords" looks stick out much more. Plus, we already had 200x figures and stactions, etc. and those lines are done... feels like a step back to do a full on 200x guy like this. But then again, I am not a huge 200x guy, so your personal mileage will vary.

Sometimes a step back would be welcomed when it comes to 200X. 90 Percent of the heads sculpted for this era are just superior to their MOTUC counterparts. I can't look at MOTUC Buzz-Off, Sy-Klone or Snout Spout without stifling a yawn.

Many of the weapons and accessories were pretty damn cool too.

I just want more detail and paint apps overall.

I'd have more sympathy for those complaining about 200X styling if the Filmation Mafia didn't get their own subscription and numerous regular figures and complete domination of the PoP releases.

I favor the cross-sell/package art/posters aesthetic myself, although 200X is a close second. These figures are (with the exception of Evilseed) 200X-original characters for a 200X-focused subscription, and who have never been done in toy form before. I don't think hewing to a 'Classics-ized' aesthetic that went out the window a few years back is strictly necessary.

I'm not part of any "mafia" and don't need anyone's sympathy. I just don't like the corny styling. I don't share the same likes as everyone. It doesn't mean I need tissue LOL

I just don't like 200x style, I think it looks corny now. I do like 200x through the classics machine. 200x style was a part of its time, like the vintage figures had the "squat" pose. MOTUC didn't make the legs shorter for vintage figures, or remove knee articulation, keeping that esthetic... Don't see how keeping the now-cliche out of proportion 90's style is doing any favors.

Sure they've deviated from the style a few times but out of hundreds of figures the real major deviations like this are few. POP is arguably a different beast as, much like MOTUC cross sell, they said "we're using the Filmation Styleguide."

The 200x line was a great toyline... But it ended and that is that, and for a few years I was sad too. But I moved on, while I think a lot of fans of that style haven't gotten over the "unfinished" aspect at all. I want MOTUC figures not 200x. And when MOTUC is over I'll want the new style... I just don't understand the need to make "faction wars" in fandom.

That is like saying you don't like ants. Then putting out a couple lines of sugar at night, getting up the next day and seeing ants eating those lines, and telling everyone, I just don't understand the why these ants came into my house?

For the record, I like vintage, filmation and 200X. In each of those styles I have dislikes.

That is how I feel about the 200x style look in 2015. If you asked me in 2003, I would have said something different. If you ask me in 2023, I'm sure I'll have a different opinion than I do now. The minicomics look I prefer has been called outdated, and for some others, the Filmation stuff is too childish or simple. I love the FFM- but for some others they're stupid. We all like He-Man, we all prefer our own thing, the 200x series was firmly routed & influenced in its time by the things around it, just like the 80's minicomics were. For me as a late thirtysomething, I think the minicomics and the original designs (and the influences they took from) hold up better than the 200x designs and their influences. I was really young when MOTU came out in the 80's, and I'm sure someone who was young in 2001 growing up on 200x would take one look at original 80's He-Man and say "corny" too. And the kids who are 5-6 years old now will have the new movie He-Man as their basis, and might say twenty years from now that both 80's & 200x are corny. It's ok to say Filmation is plain, but not to say 200x is out of proportion? Both are true... It's ok to say Filmation is cheesy, but 200x is on some type of pedestal?

Especially the vintage minicomics have a classic/classy look (well at least the Alcala ones) where 200x is more in line with a fast-passing fad( mirrored in the extreme proportions for example).
No question which is more timeless.
