December Figure is a secret to nobody... It's Dare... Good thing we weren't getting him in 2015...
The one good thing I will say about Dare is that they gave him the Filmation armor. I'm going to guess that credit for that goes to the Four Horsemen.
It looks like he may have a more streamlined version of the power sword. I really want to see what that looks like. His gun also appears to be a "cosmic key" gun.

I always remembered him saying on the Gooble that Dare would be the bookend figure and don;t understand why it seems like a surprise. As much as I was dreading him based on the mini comic design; I am glad the Horsemen gave him this harness as it will be the ONLY way I will display him! I'm not too keen on the M on his belt buckle or that pistol, but he does look decent and I will consider flopping out his head for the Snake Armor He-man one (possibly but I can't tell if he has that ponytail or not) and would've liked for him to have the fur shorts
Check out the Masters of the Universe display at Mattel's booth. These images are from San Diego Comic-Con 2015's Preview Night. Included are: Lizard Man Ninjor Huntara Angella Peekablue Mara Saurod Blast Attack Squeeeze Dragstor Dare Oo-Larr Spirit of Grayskull Rotor vs Twistoid Hover Bots Snake Armor He-Man vs 200X Add-On King Hsss Multibot Laser...
This is what the fans were worried about. Buzzsaw Hordak was going to be regular Hordak with a door in his chest. Which blows if you have regular Hordak from 2009.
Yeah, there isn't much of a difference visually. But looking at his stomach area under his armor, it looks like he may have a hinge there. So maybe he has a new torso that allows for the buzz saw feature? At least that's some difference, though not enough to get me excited for him.
Damn...see what happens when you have to rest and go to work?!!! We've had reveals!!!!
The Good
Saurod and the Talon Fighter are the pick of Preview Night for me! The 1987 movie characters have been stellar figures (and arguably TOO detailed for Classics), and I'm glad that Saurod impresses like the other two characters have. Captain Atkin ought to be a very happy camper! So should Pons Maar...
The Talon Fighter is one of my favorite vehicles because of it's design, two character payload, color scheme and mystical nature as part of Castle Grayskull. All we need is the Attack Trak....
Mattel getting the ThunderCats license is also big news to me. Not alot of characters means that it is possible for Mattel to finish that line. And it keeps Mattycollector open for business...
I'm underwhelmed by everything else.
The Bad
Perfuma has boots on, instead of slippers. Other than that and her flowing hair, she looks okay, but not as Filmation as she could have been.
Dragstor is "meh" to me. I wasn't a fan of his back in the day. The other Horde members were horrible monsters and Dragstor was...trying to run you over. He's Turbo Man from MegaMan 7... His crossbow has a spoiler on it. The figure looks fine, I'm just not a fan of the concept.
I was never too crazy about the Flying Fist/Terror Claws/Laser Power/Laser Light variants. I skipped them when I was a kid. Those Terror Claws are enormous!
I was afraid that Buzzsaw Hordak was going to be normal Hordak visually. Not even a Filmation head, let alone a 200X head -- anything to make him stand out.
No wonder people don't trust Toyguru. Another classic example.
Personally, I'm not crazy about his inclusion for the same reason as the Unnamed One...Dare and the Unnamed One "wrap up" nothing; instead they begin the Son of He-Man era. If the line doesn't continue into 2016, then these two would have been a false start -- only two figures deep into a new era of MOTU before the line died. We could have have had Masque, who completes Shokoti or Granita who completes the Rock Warriors or Crita who matches up with Mara.
Nice summation of my thoughts as well, but we still need more vehicles other than Attak-Trak to keep the battles going... And what about Snake-Mountain?
Here is what the schedule looks like based on the cards in the display case:
July: Peekablue, Calix
August: Mara, Buzz-Saw Hordak, Evilseed, 200X Head Pack
September: Saurod, Kulatak Elder
October: Flying Fists He-Man vs. Terror Claws Skeletor, Perfuma, Ceratus
November: Dragstor, Veena, Point Dredd & Talon Fighter
December: Laser Light set, Dare, Prahvus
So not hitting us quite so hard during the holidays...well, except they will withhold the convention exclusives and "chase" King Grayskull until Black Friday-ish...and the the Snake Mountain rumour...so probably just about as bad a hit as usual...
Not every beast is tender, especially if there is genius in his making.
Saurod looks very nice, and in keeping with the style of the "Movie Figures" in Classics. (They may be too detailed for other Classics, but the concept of unified style went out the window several years ago, especially when they decided to go nearly-cardback for vintage MotU and pure Filmation for PoP. )
Flying Fists He-Man, unfortunately, is a disappointment. Where's the chrome armor and shiny shield? And the thunderball mace?
And the Laser figures ... I don't know, they're extremely faithful, but I guess I was hoping for something with a bit more 'zing'. Maybe they'll look better with the lights on.
As for Dare, I'm going to be _very_ interested to see how that plays to the crowds as Mattypalooza tomorrow. Anyone know if any site or reporter has a stream or video planned?
