A starburst for the collectors' choice. (Good for those who wanted the unified green brick motif, sad for us who liked the exploding red rocks) I wonder what the back will look like.

Filmation Castle Grayskull. Is that going to be a slipcase? Or more along something like multibot's packaging?

I guess what I'm wondering is, Will a MOC collector be happy displaying them?

Let's start off by saying HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Thunder Cats now part of Mattel; and not only following the sub model but will also be in scale with our Classics line! (And the Mummy Mumm-Ra as the exclusive... SIGN ME UP!

LET THE CROSSOVER BEGIN!!! (As I see Carnivus and Battlecat Man playing key roles in my fan fiction)

Now back to MOTU:

200X figures look great! Can't wait to get them....
(Side Note: As I found out from Mattycollector the first figure will ship separate from the Club Eternia figure as it is the initial figure {I'll leave the thoughts about that to you all} BUT after it will follow the normal sub renewal process and be combined with all shipments after.)

Saurod: Heavy detail looks pretty good and his eye make him look psychotic! Although i wish they kept that blue color going thru the leg and tail, but I guess they had to keep the colors truthful; IMO it's just a dramatic switch visually.

Perfuma: having no real connect to her she looks OK. I know some have complained about her face but I think it's the photos angle, if anything though I would've had her face be more angular, skinny and plant-like rather than robust.

Dragstor: One of my all time favorites, yet I'm worried a bit about that torso; I'm sure the wheel won;t be moving but I hope he has the ab crunch at least but can't tell. His crossbow... Priceless a well thought creative idea. Still have to say for him being a favorite I'm glad to have him.

And DARE!!! You know when I saw him in the mini and felt this was just a cheap reuse, the Horsemen did the bait and switch (to an extent) and I find myself really liking him!!! Thankfully they gave him the harness so I can toss that crappy spacevest away! His head, not sure but will possible replace with the SA He-Man Head or that Laser Light one (Oh don;t worry I'll get on the variants too). But other than wishing he had furry shorts AND pants, and wondering why he has that M on his buckle... I am rather pleased and can see this character now taking things into the future... (but not before we get some more old school goodness!)

Point Dread, Talon Fighter & Teela 2.0: HOLY HORDAK: The First of the wallet busting items comes flying in and STRONG! Considering many wanted a Evil vehicle there was no doubt in my mind this was gonna be the next vehicle considering there are still a bunch of Grayskull's sitting in a warehouse... It's a thing of beauty and the addition of that Teela gives us the preview of how good the 2.0 Series is gonna look.

As for the variants, which IMO make up this years' sub for the most part:

Hurricane Hordak: Something better happen or this is really a pretty bad ripoff just for the sake of Dragstor's torso design.
Flying Fists & Terror Claws: Honestly one of the problems i had with some of the variants where I simply wish they would've saved some costs and just piece this all into a weapons pak. It's just unnecessary and really nothing WOW!
Laser Lights: Well once again IMO these are really bad looking characters even if they bring that good ole feeling back, they just don't do it. He-man looks like he just finished shooting a scene in Magic Mike 2 and his waist and legs look bad and thin, his head (which i said earlier may help Dare keep his father's features prominent. Skeletor looks like a mess and I never had them in the past, and they will serve to enhance or help create new characters for me and my display.

I would've preferred an 8 Back Ram Man.... And where is Filmation Hordak's head and Hsss 200X's torso?

And now to 2016...

Collector's Choice Sub (which is now up for preorder) LOOKS AMAZING!
I knew they would use Despara as the lure and seeing how amazing that figure is, I think some may have been convinced this was an actual great idea despite it's creator.

Lord Masque, Vultak, DARIUS, Crita, General Sunder (OK) and THE HORDE WRAITH!!!! I am sticking around just a bit longer!!! Although I find it hard to believe Lodar wasn't a strong winner in this selection process... whereas I would've swapped out Despara for SDCC 2016 or package her in a special (like with the revived Skeletor) put Lodar into a slot and make Masque the sub exclusive! But they look great!

NIGHTSATLKER!!! Well knowing many probably want Stridor first this would be the best way to drag out this purchase and reuse by issuing the lesser first and tease now with the most desired!

Power Con Exclsuives... Well congrats to them as it may sell more tickets to their show and I wouldn't mind going BUT DAMN one thing Mattel hasn't learned yet; STOP excluding your potential sales profit by preventing sales. Now I know one vendor has already begun to prepare to take orders for the items but as an ALL IN, I should always have access to everything and anything produced. it's not about entitlement it's about being with this line since day one and always having faith by paying ahead to keep it going for this long. Cause that Red Beastman will sure complete my Preternia faction well.

He-Man 2.0: OK I can get these and pretty wise decision to put that Evilseed as the exclusive and not a figure not yet made to create controversy.

And now.... SNAKE MOUNTAIN!!!
Prepare to sell a kidney for this, the size alone and the fact it will have electronic features... Like many have guessed easily somewhere in the 500 range. I mean Blu Tooth and BONE THRONE!!!

Oh did I forget... ANTI HE-MAN or as copyright dictates now Black & Red He-Man! I think a well respected nod to all those German fans who keep the Power strong across the ocean, nice shout out to them and now to us!!! ( I hope the add a little more to his visuals maybe some paint or something to give him a little more)

AND I just saw during the Mattypalooza some of the ideas they presented included once again Major Matt Mason!!! I like this cause this I feel would be the link for Marlena and Earth to have some validity considering they kept her as an Earthling (especially since my fab fic of her is strongly derived from her being a part of Mason's team)! I may be in the minority for it but I would like to see this!

Well I hope you enjoyed my opinions and until Blackstar becomes the next acquisition by Mattel, I still say it's a good time to be a MOTU Fan!!!

God damnt it, and I thought I'm done with the subscription model after this year, and I normally care less for the Filmation characters, but I simply cannot pass on many of these beautiful figs now! I will wait at the very last minute to subscribe, and see if they would go through or not!

Regardless, I'm getting most if not all the 200X stuff, vehicles, beasts and playsets so long as they're not POP.

Well not only do I love both sub options but also knowing in advance everything that's coming next year (gee I guess Mattel Legal had a change in policy). I was totally on the fence, prior to this panel, now I'm just going to give them my wallet. I also let the wife know I was buying a Bluetooth speaker, hehehe.

Awesome all round, but dare should have had bear legs, and what's with the same head as his dad, man talk about cheap , he really needed a new noggin, ( maybe I'll take the filmation he-man head, and resculpt the hair )

I felt they same a bit as well; if not bare legs, her should have had the furry shorts as a nod. And what's up with the M on the buckle? As for the head: thankfully I'm not a fan of the Laser Light fig's so that head will be my Dare one until the possibility of the Filmation head version coming in another head pack or offering.

Ecstatic over the Filmation sub. I only wish it was bigger! Wow, those colors pop! Those faces so expressive! Glad I kept fairly restrained with MOTUC, because I might be going whole hog with this Filmation line!

Twistoid and Rotar show up Monday the 27th.

No news on the Filmation subscription, but I expect early August--just as Collector's Choice is tailing off or just after it ends.

EDIT: Turns out the Filmation sub will open in October.

I was really pleased with this years SDCC showing. I like that they are continuing with fan demanded characters in the classics packaging, and I'm happy with the selection of characters they've chosen. Snake Mountain looks amazing, but my wallet is already sobbing openly. The price drop and the smaller subscription is very welcome. Having two mini subs instead of one big one was a great move and I think they will see subscription numbers rise dramatically because people aren't locked into buying every figure. The Filmation variant line is an easy pass for me, but there is still so much stuff I'm interested in and I'm very happy I'm not being forced to buy a bunch of Filmation stuff I have no interest in. Also letting us know everything we are buying up front! What a bizarre idea?! It's as if a huge source of unethical business practices is no longer involved...

Well the legal department may have suggested they play it safe and only reveal what was already definitely in the pipeline, but it would be just that: a suggestion. It's not like they are actual law enforcement. Some stuff like safety regulations you should definitely follow them on (don't give blade actual blades is probably a really good suggestion) the other stuff is not so important and it's more or less to avoid frivolous lawsuits. I used to work in the art department for a toy company so I'm pretty familiar with how most of this stuff works (although Mattel could be quite different). Toyguru exaggerated and flat out lied about a lot of things.

teemu--Not my choice either, but I have to say that with the possible exception of Vultak, I've seen all of them show up repeatedly on fan request lists. And three of them are runners-up from the fan votes.

I've just decided not to subscribe anymore, after seeing how Mattel is still pulling their BS on us! I think I'd rather pay the secondary market prices for the figurers or items that are exclusives to the subs and cherry pick the rest... I'd be better off if I deal less with Mattel and Digital River.
