Someone contacted the Better Business Bureau regarding the King Hsss torso situation and received a response and a settlement from their complaint:
"Business Response
The consumer was contacted to discuss the Complaint. We apologized for the unavailability of the originally advertised figure and offered the consumer a voucher to be used towards the purchase of any Mattel item. He accepted the voucher and expressed his appreciation for the follow-up.
Consumer Response
On 9/1/2015, Mattel representative ****** called me and informed me that she had contacted Mattycollector.com/Digital River in an attempt to ship the King Hsss snake torso to me. However, the Mattycollector.com design department told Mattel that the torso was not finished being manufactured. Mattel offered me a $45.00 voucher to be used on any Mattel product. I accepted their offer."
Seems like a good sign. I filed a complaint today as well, so anyone else who subscribed and is upset about the King Hsss torso might want to find resolution through these means. Seems like a much more sane and reasonable way to handle this issue than talking about class action lawsuits or boycotts.
