  • Dare I say that Dare looks awesome as a figure?!!!

Okay, even though I despise the SOH canon, I must say the figure of Dare/He-Ro II has turned out to be a fantastic looking piece of plastic in hands... I couldn't find a suitable review of him to link to yet, but I'd like to know what you think of the figure if you received him.

I think he's kinda cool too. I actually wouldn't even mind a Skeleteen figure too. lol.

I'm not a fan of the blue armor, but the silver NA armor looks good on him.

I on the other hand, careless for that NA silver armor, I very much prefer the new blue harness...

There are a few things I like about him: the sword, the gun belt, and the silver armor are cool.

      Primary Colors? Check.
      Ponytail? Check.
      Gun? Check.
      Two or more belts? Check.
      Gratuitous, asymmetrical armor? Check.

I don't know why people bitch and moan about Dare's Asymmetrical armor since one of MOTU's CORE Characters sports asymmetrical armor... The dude with the Blue Helmet, Green and Orange clothes...

Man-At-Arms has almost 40 years of nostalgia behind him. So asymmetricality is excused on him. Dare, not so much.

To be honest with you, I careless for this character, especially knowing he's part of Neitlich's awful legacy, but the 4HM did him well!!!... In my canon, I might just make him some kind of a manufactured clone of He-Man who battles Faker and his robotic armies somewhere in that universe!

That almost sounds like the plot of Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey...

Bill: "If we were two good human uses, and we had to fight two evil robot uses, what would we do?"

        Ted: "Build good robot uses?!"

        Bill: "Good thinking, Ted!!"

I personally think he's a waste of a figure slot. Very bland and boring.

I was writing my review tonight (I write stuff about a week in advance so I think it's scheduled for January 1st) and I have to say that I'm really impressed with this figure. I think it's actually a really cool piece that unfortunately is going to be ignored due to the fact that some folks feel it was forced into the canon and it isn't the Dare that most of us expected to get. Still, he's a pretty incredible toy. If we had the opportunity to see some vintage concept art of this version of Dare/ He-Ro from the 1988 series bible, I'd be curious if it would change anyone's minds. It's still really bizarre to me that Scott didn't let anyone take any pictures of that bible nor was any picture of Dare from it ever utilized.

I like him, but I would have liked the bear leg version the best, he could have been awesome with the proper look from the filmation pitch ,

I'm actually pretty happy with the way this figure turned out. While I'm not thrilled with the overall "canon" of MOTUC as told through the bios and mini-comics, I've actually wanted a figure of He-Ro (aka He-Ro II/Dare) for years based on that Lou Scheimer cartoon series pitch/bible.

When images of him "He-Ro II" first showed up in some previous MOTUC mini-comics showing him wearing the silver NA style armor, and basically just looking like a recolored NA He-Man, I was disappointed. I actually really wanted the blue armor as shown in that cartoon series pitch. Then when it was revealed that the figure would include both, I was rather happy!

I know that he had more of the furry shorts look in the cartoon pitch and not the blue pants (and I've seen some people swapping parts and customizing him to be more cartoon-pitch-accurate), but I actually think the blue pants work pretty well as part of the look with the blue harness.

So all in all I'm happy.

Well, I finally got Dare. Sadly, I don't think he looks very good at all. He suffers from "small head" syndrome. This is especially noticeable when he is wearing the NA He-Man amor. A good replacement head for the character is the Icarius "Val Kilmer" head.

The one I have seen IRL not only has a slightly small head, but the head sits way too high on the neck, adding to the sense of disproportion. This could be remedied by making the ball socket deeper and removing some plastic from the "cup" around that ball socket (the part that would end up resting on the torso's "neck" , but its an awful lot of work for a rather marginal result...

Come on, a bunch of the figures already suffer from the small head syndrome including Jitsu and Fisto, while other figures suffer from the giant head syndrome! I don't think it's a big issue for Dare to be labeled as a bad figure here!

I understand where you're coming from, especially the length of the neck, but most of the comic superheroes already suffer from this "the three heads wide shoulder" proportion look, more or less.
I haven't tried the NA armor on him yet, but most armors as of late are a bit too fat and big to begin with!

I finally have mine in hand, and I actually quite like him. Cool figure. He looks like a MOTU hero and works well. I think the head size is fine too. No issues at all for me, just a solid figure all around.

Seriously though, they need to change that dreadful name and the mohawk design before even considering him as a figure!... I have nothing against mohawk hairdos BTW, but it's becoming a little redundant to associate mohawk wearing characters with being evil and whatnot.

I have to agree that he'd be kinda' cool as an action figure...though customizations may vary.

(Besides, I can think of at least one worse figure already made)

The name of skeleteen is ridiculous, what's he going to be called when he's 20...skeledult?!?

Imagine him being 19 and the conversation going something like this....

Skeleteen: "Dad, can I be Skeletor 2 now, since in like a few days..you know...I'll be.."

                      Skeletor: "No son"

Skeleteen: "Well, how about Skele-man then?"

                      Skeletor: "Nyet!!"

Skeleteen: "And you wonder why I'm rocking a mohawk...fine...I'm just going to tell everyone to start calling me Skele-punk behind your back.

Skeletor: "More like Skele-brat, right Evil Lyn!?"

As far as bad names go, Skeleteen is still the worst. I hope someone at Mattel has enough common sense not to call him that if he gets produced as a figure.
