  • 2017 Reveals

So when can we expect to see the 2017 line up? And what about Snake Mountain?

Come on Super 7, what an opportunity to be on the ball and start answering some of our questions!

There isn't going to be any reveals

Snake Mountain is highly likely of not happening now. Super 7 is afraid to do it and sees it as a risk. They mentioned kickstarter possibly (which takes your money up front and doesn't guarantee you anything). Even Toyguru just stated that it costs several hundreds of thousands just to tool it.

Maybe Pixel Dan will have some QnA news soon.....

I have a feeling that we'll get figures but it will be a very slow and long process

No reveals? They already said there would be a full 2017 lineup so of course there will be reveals!

Hundreds of thousands to tool? Somehow I doubt that. Maybe 10k but certainly not more than that.

No Snake Mountain would be the biggest insult Mattel could ever shit on the fans!

And yet, the Four Horsemen manage to put out some of the best looking uniquely sculpted and diverse figures in the business without a billion dollar company backing them up, must be magic!!!

Exactly. I believe they can do playsets too. Just Kickstarter Snake Mountain and watch the money roll in.

I don't think we should be jumping to too many conclusions about what they can, or can't do. Have any of you bought their vinyl figures, or clothing? Those are very high quality items, just for one example. Sure a t shirt is what, $40? But it is noticeably much better than a $15-20 shirt from a mall. I don't remember what year it was, but Reaction fans asked for a 70's style cardboard playset, which they did, as well as the Kenner Alien display base (which they did in resin when it was too expensive to do.). Both of these items were very expensive, but also fell under the category "not going to happen otherwise". The Star Wars Shogun Warriors, another years-long "impossible" project where they did the opposite of Matty with CG, and didn't make it to a price point- they made it and then set the price. So it would be a "true shogun" in all the details.

Super 7 usually does NYCC and I'd expect to hear MOTUC plans then really. We also have a really good chance at a kickstarter for SM with them, I mean we have a prototype and a company with experience making a wide variety of toys- making a KS even easier for Super 7. The question is the same as CG though: are there enough people to buy it to make it sub $500.

I would too! But I think most people felt CG was a lot.

That type of money showering is exactly why Grayskull costed so much.

No, reality of making a big item in today's world is why it cost so much.

To pay up to $500 is ridiculous. Thats what having a billion dollar company backing you up prevents. I cant wait to read all the complaints about price in 2017. I havent bought any of the 4h figures as they have the same designs as the 200k motu line. Unique sculpts, no theyre not. They put animal heads on motu bodies. Not interested. You can admire and love them all you want. Super7 garbage overpriced stick figures are a con. Talk about mark up. Good luck to all of you who will support and line their pockets in green.

We've seen MOTU figures of their own though...
The MOTUC will still use 4H team so there's not much worries there.

I could go on and on, but why bother!... I respectfully disagree with you in regards to the 4HM's lines and work, but if such a small independent company can do it on their own without the corporate giants on their side, there is definitely a way of putting out what the fans have been asking for...

I'm sure it's going to cost a little more per unit, but DR has been overcharging the shit out of each order where your billion dollar company didn't do much about it for nine freakin years!

        Peace out.

The 4h still required mattels help, im sure they got great deals from the same factories as well as the contacts. To think that a very small company can produce figures is ignorant. DR and Mattel are 2 seperate entities. What DR was charging for shipping had nothing to do with Mattel. If i have to explain that on this forum is ridiculous. Super7 has already said they wont do SM due to its high cost. Wait till you see the cost now for figures. Im sure itll far more expensive than it was with Mattel and DR, but i hope im wrong and everyone will be able to rub it in my face about how wrong and full of shit i was.

A lot of those can be found for cheap on places like eBay. I think the marlet appeal for stuff like this is very small.

I wondered the same thing the first time I saw those, I thought, Who would want to buy giant MotU in jumbled colors? I don't personally have the interest in owning any test shots but then I didn't really consider that market either. There is a market for that type of thing and anything that is considered exclusive has it's market as well. I also have to wonder if at the time, Mattel said this is all we approve. I think Faker would have been easier for super7 and lesser of a risk. Maybe now Mattel has made it slightly easier for super7. Fingers crossed that the 4H do their magic and a new day begins!

usually whatever was going to be sold in January would be shown by now. we have seen nothing. so they are either going to do re-issues next year or they won't have anything available until the middle of next year.

I could be wrong & they aren't going to show us anything to avoid criticism but I doubt it.

        I agree with your notion.

Also, probably S7 and the Four Horsemen may need some extra time to adjust to the new transitional period, and make sure things go as planned.

if I was running super 7, I would make 2017 re-issues. just slap one of those "the original" stickers on the front like they did in the 80s. using that money they could start putting out new characters at the same time.

      jan - horde troopers
      feb - teela
      mar - snakemen
      apr - fisto
      may - roton twistoid
      jun - sorceress
      july - rokkon stonedar
      aug - draego-man
      sep - beastman
      oct - ram-man
      nov - trap jaw
dec - orginal sdcc king grayskull in normal packaging

To be honest, Flat Out Reissues is not necessarily the best way to go. Especially if some of those figures have flaws. With that said, I LOVE your line-Up, but I'd prefer some tweaks on some characters. (some would be simple redecos to "distance them" from the Mattel versions. Others could use a few part swaps. In other cases I'd like to see new armor to fix some issues.)

        Using your list:
Horde Troopers: no battle damage, maybe dark brown gloves as a nod to Filmation
Teela: BGEL Forearms. (Maybe add a Red haired version of the BGT head) I would prefer a new torso armor for the 2.0 buck, but I'd take a 1.0 buck
        snakemen: Different color palette.
Fisto: More Reddish hair, Oo-Larr left Forearm (If possible new full torso armor)
        Roton Twistoid: No change.
Sorceress: Brighter colors. (would like new set of wings, but for the sake of reissuing, I'd take another one for the team)
Rokkon & Stonedar: Swap Stonedar's thighs with Masque if just to get a nod to the red bands.
Draego: For him to come with ALL OF HIS WEAPONS without needing a weapons pack.
        Beastman: no change.
Ramman: Redeco (Mini Comics, Cardback, 200X)
Trap Jaw:Toss in extra weapons (Filmation Bow and Swatter come to mind)
KG: Take Santa KG and release him in SDCC Colors. and no flocking on his cape.

Re-issues won't sell enough to make it worth while, especially when they will have to meet MOQ (minimum order quanity) with the factory...most everybody that is collecting this line and already knows about the line, already has these figures. The Focus needs to me on NEW characters and use the "re-do" characters for the Filmation line.

Surest way to kill the line and a slap in the face to people who have been with it since the beginning.

IMHO, if they wanna do re-issues and want the figures to sell well, they need to add extra accessories, fix the issues they've had, and probably give these figures more wrist articulations when needed and so on... AND, promote the hell out of them so new comers could start collecting with enthusiasm.

The Horde Troopers are the "Storm Troopers" of the MOTU Universe. These figures practically cry out for variants.

All these Horde-Troopes are cool and all, but they desperately need some machinery and vehicles to go with.
