  • ABM: Vehicles

Let's play Arm-chair Brand Manager (ABM)! You are in charge of a new MotUC sub line to release two vehicles for the next 3 years. Each year you have the budget to release a big vehicle and a smaller vehicle (but not a beast/creature or a playset). Which 6 will you pick?

    Here's an example:
Year 1: Roton & Jet Sled
Year 2: Dragon Walker & Stilt Stalkers
Year 3: Land Shark & Bat Flight Pack
“Censorship always defeats it own purpose, for it creates in the end the kind of society that is incapable of exercising real discretion." ― Henry Steele Commager

year 1: Roton & Battle Ram (back half)
year 2: Attack Trak & Road Ripper
year 3: Talon Fighter & Point Dread (I'd cheat and consider Point Dread to be the smaller 'vehicle' that year)

              1. War Sled (Villains' redeco [preferably with the Snake Head Hood Ornament]), then Complete Battle Ram (using the re-use of the sled part to justify the cost), because we've waited long enough!
              2. Road Ripper, then Roton
              3. Talon Fighter, then Attak Trak

I wanted to do one heroic and one evil each year, but the sad fact is the villains had crap vehicles (unless we could miraculously get the Collector [preferably the one Emiliano redesigned for 200X] as one of the large vehicles). Also, not sure if Talon Fighter would be considered large (it has an enclosed cockpit) or small (still smaller than Wind Raider), but I would try to classify it as small, and offer the Point Dread mini-playset separately at or around the same time.

Since I'm the Brand Manager and I don't cut corners, believe in transparency, and have respect for the fans, I'd be looking at offering a complete collection for the vintage series, which means a 6 year plan that would be announced in advance...

                  Y1 - Blaster Hawk & Roton
                  Y2 - Fright Fighter & Attack Track
                  Y3 - Spydor & Land Shark
                  Y4 - Bashasaurus & Dragon Walker
Y5 - Talon Fighter (with Point Dread) & Road Ripper
Y6 - Battle Ram (Complete) & Laser Bolt

I think he probably meant the Filmation version:

There's also a minicomic version (from Adventure of the Blue Diamond):
