About the Stridor...

Super7 threw us a curveball with the Stridor announcement. I'm having mixed reactions about it.
On one hand it IS STRIDOR!!
On the other hand, QC issues scare me.
Then on the same second hand, the inaccuracies to the toy bother me...
On the first hand once again, there's the fact that they'll do Beasts and possibly vehicles...

How do you feel about MOTUC Fisto's Robo Pony?

I'm happy about it as long as he's well made by the factory. I like the sculpt.

Hope Stridor means we get more vehicles and beasts!

It was a nice surprise, having more creatures and vehicles is the right thing to do IMO.

The issue is that the pictures at Super7 are saved as PNG files, which are too large for the forum filters to handle. We only post jpgs at HMW.

I've heard from a few people that the standard helmet that came with the vintage 80s toy was designed for MOTUC Stridor, and will be packaged with the figure. Hopefull this is the case. Overall, I like the look of Stridor.

I like the color scheme of Stridor a lot more than Night-Stalker, but both of these mechanical horses really suffer from the lack of paint applications that were needed to highlight the details and such, and that what made the Wind-Raider and the Battle-Ram look great!

I gave super7 every benefit of the doubt but I've made up my mind that I'm done collecting. I do appreciate that they are trying to keep MotU alive but imo they continue to fail on really taking in fan input.

If we were shown the prototype in advance, the shield and helmet would have been addressed....also the dull gray and lack of paint details.

i hate to sound negative but for those who say just enjoy that we're getting anything, needs to take off the nostalgia glasses and realize that not every shiny carrot has luster. (Meaning, some folks aren't complaining just to complain, we're just tired of the take it as is and be grateful mentality.)

So ture... For $60 a pop, at least they should've tried harder to appeal to the fandom especially after the last mishaps!... Honestly, I love seeing them bringing back the beast/vehicle aspect to the line simply because it's part of MOTU's DNA as a toy line, so to speak, but at least put some effort into it and do it right!

Stridor here just looks a little dull and lazy without the proper paint apps! And I really hope he also comes in with the original helmet.

Is this going to be retooled at the NEW factory, or are they reusing night stalker tooling? I think the price point indicates the later huh? If this was a hundred percent new tooling, this would be priced closer to $100 I would think.

If there is any fatal flaw, this will be one horse beat to death on arrival. Considering the bulk of this item and it's weight distribution we can't have loose or stuck joints or internal parts that are too long or too short. Considering this looks to be a final sample, I hope that they release a few to reviewers to help assuage fears.

On one hand I truly hope it sells well. I hope Super7 continues the line until the our sun consumes the earth about five billion years from now.
On the other hand I fear that enough people have had enough, and are are less willing to part with their hard earned cash for something that will likely have have QC issues yet again.
On the third hand, the forth hand is undoubtedly going to whine and cry that the second hand are taking away their toys from them...

They couldn't even sculpt a new helmet? This helmet makes no sense on Stridor.

Brian Flynn did hint at there possibly being a proper Stridor helmet included and shown when the preorders go live.
I certainly hope so as I definitely want Stridor, but won’t display him with a repainted Night Stalker helmet. It would be nice to avoid waiting for a third party helmet from shapeways or something similar. We shall see next week.....

Eventually I might try to upgrade mine with some simple paint apps, the same goes for Night-Stalker.

Finally l caved in and preordered Stridor... Luckily I have some silver paint to fix his flat grayness.
(I also caved in and bought one of the Norem prints, because it was the same as the art of a Golden Nools video tape I had as a child... The caverns of fear, in the land of shadows, the sword of knowledge, and the eye of Eternia...)

As a kid, I loved the Stridor and Fisto giftset, so getting the warhorse was a must for me.

I just pre-ordered my Stridor(s), and I hope they're QC issue free, aside from the lack of paint job of course...

Let's just hope it's not the last of the vehicle/mechanical beasts we'll see coming from S7!
I'd really love to see at least a couple more vintage vehicles (Dragon-Walker, Attak-Trak) for good guys and two more for the bad guys (Land-Shark, Spidor) before S7 quits on us!

I've cancelled every preorder of everything I thought I wanted from Super 7 so far...but I need Stridor. Hopefully the quality is either vastly improved, or there is enough there for me to repair/rescue...

I just came home from work, and I found my Stridors sitting in the hallway of the building without any prior shipping notice or anything from Super7!!!

On one hand I'm happy that they're here, but on the other hand, they could've been stolen or missing not knowing when to except the package ahead of time, especially where I live!...

Super7 has been practicing the similar delivery arrangement with most of my past orders, which sucks and unprofessional considering the amount of money I've spent on these products, not to mention the simple technologies we have available these days for them to notify their customers but they chose not to utilize them properly!

Mine is MIA... No notification, nothing. But they should AT LEAST NOTIFY that they shipped. I have a question: Did you use Paypal? I'm asking because at least in my experience Paypal always has a shipping notification e-mail whenever anything is sent.

I actually used my credit card and not PayPal for that order... That said, no email notifications until now what so ever!... I just added the text feature on my order to get any text messages about the updates, and I'll see if I'm gonna get any, even though the shipment has been delivered two days ago!

Glad to see someone here has received Stridor.
I’m still waiting and I see no Canadian in any of the forums I frequent has posted that they’ve got theirs yet, so it’s not like I’m worried as of now.
I’m hoping it’s not much longer. It’s felt like forever since the last MOTUC item I’ve opened.

Regarding this no shipping notification, one thing I tried with Super 7’s last shipment was I went to my order page and signed up for text messages. I actually got a text notification when wave 1 shipped. Now I’m not sure if that’s just because being Canadian my stuff was sent a little later than the first batch of mass mailings, and Super 7 got their act together by then, or if text messages are more up to date than their emails.

Anyways, I signed up again for text notifications for my Stridor shipment, I’ll let you guys know if I actually get any notifications again this time or if Stridor will just appear at my door one day

Well, Stridor was waiting for me when I got home from work today. The text notification didn’t work. No advanced notice at all. Not important to me at all since I live out in the country on a secluded road with a large wrap around front porch, but I totally understand the concern of people where the chance of parcel theft can occur.

I also don’t see the big deal about the outer mailer (other than the ‘advertising’ for porch pirates).
This new outer mailer is actually as thick as a shipping box. It’s not like the old outer mailers that were basically as thin as the packaging the figures were in. The bubble wrap between the mailer and packaging should suffice. If there’s damage to the outer mailer and packing on Stridor, most likely whatever caused the damage with that amount of force would have still caused the same damage to the item in a shipping box with the old thin outer mailer of the packaging anyway.
