  • The new bios of MOTUC panel video @ Power-Con 2019.

If the MOTUC bios are you thing, here is a video for you that you could check out:

I myself never cared for them much, from the Neitlich days until now for a bunch of reasons, however some of them were good references to make your own stories if you wanted to!

I never cared for the bios either. Neitlich’s ‘real names’, blatant mistakes, and downright terrible writing makes them worthless IMO. Unfortunately I didn’t find Danielle and company’s contributions much better... the later bios seemed to be “let’s get as many name/location dropping as can possibly fit on the card back”, and that doesn’t make for a decent bio either IMHO.

      I completely agree.

I haven't watched the video yet to be frank, but I wonder when Mattel releases the Origins line, would they be borrowing from the Classics' bios and introduce the material in the upcoming mini-comics?

The problem with the bios is quite simple: Scott Neitlich sucks as a writer. He greatly misunderstood the medium he was writing. Trying to fit aWar and Peace in 100+ Index cards was a huge mistake. Instead of telling me Who the Character is and what do they do, he was more interested in telling his story. Hence some of the nonsense in the bios.
The new team (Danielle and Eric) are stuck with "the Neitlich format" not to mention trying to subtly undo some of the damage done by Neitlich. The better option would've been starting from scratch, but I believe that option Mattel will use in a future line (maybe post-origins.)

            Interesting perspective.
I hope Origins will ignore the current Classics bios and start from scratch... Like you said, I hope the new bios will highlight the characters' powers and their deeds...

I hope that Mattel ignores all of these bios, and just scraps using them for "Origins" or any future lines. None of the bios have been particularly good. If they ever sell them as part of a book, which I think is the goal of someone outside of Mattel, I don't see it selling very well.

Hmm, another book from the gang! Interesting...

Yes, scrapping them all and starting from scratch is the way to go. Neitlich’s bios were shit from the beginning, and like Crespo said, Danielle & co seem trapped in the Neitlich format. So even if their contributions were any good and not just name dropping galore, there’s too much damage to overcome.

It would be wonderful if Mattel just admitted the bios aren’t canon and are just simply fan fiction from a charlatan that happened to weasel his way in to the company.

.... I remember the pushback from some when these crappy bios first started, with them saying that just stats about each character would have been better. The major flaw with that thinking back then is it still would have been Neitlich pulling stuff out of his ass, so the end result still would have been utter crap!

I pretty much watched the whole thing. I honestly found it interesting. If the bios are your thing then this is a nice behind the scenes. In my opinion.

I think the bios are fine for MOTUC, but since He-Man stories exist in a "multiverse", I hope that they don't use these bios for a future line. Just keep them for MOTUC, and those fans who like them can enjoy them with that series.

I find all the new bios to be rather dull. Nothing but potential product placement for characters that will never get made. As for those movie bios, they should have just stuck to the script. No reason to marry those figures with the rest of MOTUC "canon".
