I'm also glad that I don't have to commit on purchasing more of POP figures now, and it's nice those slots are freed from the main Club-Eternia sub, however let's hope that LieGuru won't fill them with more of his crappy concept figures.

I really hope and pray that we won't see any Son of He-Man crap before 2016... but LIEguru being what he is, I have cold sweat running down my spine already.

Hmm, why I keep calling Neitlich LieGuru instead of LIEguru? LOL

I had a feeling LIEguru wouldn't be able to behave, and would release more CHASE FIGURES ! Of course, Lookee was too much of a temptation... So now, Lookee and Filmation Kowl are planned to be sold $20 as a chase 2-pack... I wonder how much they will cost in resellers stores overseas (if they ever get to Europe and other countries, that is). More horror stories coming... and more disappointed fans, no doubt.

And for us dumbass subbers, we will have a shot at these during EA in August I think. Still, $20 for two happy meal toys is kind of ridiculous. These should have been pack ins... or at least make one more weapons pack with weapons fans ACTUALLY want and can use, and include Loo-Kee.

I wonder... we didn't see any 200x head at NYTF so far, right ? Do you think we might see one before NYTF ends !?

They surely butchered Goat Man with another lame execution for the armor... I just can't get excited for this line anymore, the prototypes are amazing but the production figures are garbage when compared to those.

And no matter how loud and how much the fans scream about it. Neitlich just ignores us and cuts cost some more, and pockets the savings. And people wonder why there is so much hate towards him, the guy lies and says it's impossible to do it any other way, when any idiot knows that's not true... makes me mad.

I really wish someone there would tell him to stop touching the flucking figures. It looks like Skeletor's torso is one big armor piece over the standard buck... and guess what... It looks like crap.

Also... you gotta love Extendar's BENT lance ! This is not a good omen for the production release... but at least he seems to be able to carry it without falling because of the lance's weight. ALSO, PLEASE note how the calf's golden part was NOT modified, and is still close to the knee area ! I thought LIEguru had said it would be fixed ? Yet another lie !?!?

AND IS IT JUST ME, OR DO EXTENDAR'S SHOULDER JOINTS LACK A BALLJOINT !?!?!?

Finally, you can admire Scorpia's flap crotch on this pic...

The bent lance probably means that they used the same gummy, marshmallow plastic for Extendar's lance ! Yet, we requested REPEATEDLY that they's stop using this crap !

A better view at Rio Blast's face... I don't know why, but he reminds me of... a grumpy walrus !

Whoever sculpted this, knew how to destroy the 80's look... And you can ALSO notice the BULKY ARMOR (TM)... It is not THAT bulky yet, but just you wait that Ruben's design "talent" takes care of this, and you'll get yet another bloated armor/shirt ! Also, some klutz lost Rio Blast's left handgun somewhere ! And WHY don't we ever see the chest open ? By the way...is that FOAM or RUBBER that I see hanging from that chest part !?!?

And... ready for the funny thing ? Rio's got a CROTCH FLAP ! Look close : this is hilarious !

WHAT !?!? NO "visor glasses" for Rio Blast !?!? AND NO CHEST CANONS !?!? Neitlich, you son of a thousand blues ! You STILL succeeded to RUIN a figure that could have been awesome ! I'm not sure that I'll buy Rio Blast, now. He was one of my favorite vintage heroic warriors, and will end up like yet another expensive piece of crap in MOTUC !

Don't decide not to get him just yet, Let's see how the production figure looks. This might be one of those figures that looks better than the paint master. I hope I'm wrong about the lack of headgear, but Neitlich didn't mention anything about it in the walkthrough.

How is it possible that there's no "headgear"/visor thing on Rio Blast's canons !?!? The whole thing is not even an action feature, but a VERY SIMPLE "backpack" with guns and visor sliding above Rio Blast's head ! They BOTCHED this figure to death, once again ! No chest canons either... a fragile (decaying ?) rubber flap hanging from the chest... man, what a catastrophe !

This figure might become the failure of the year (hum... well, AFTER the Unfortunate One, of course). I am EXTREMELY disappointed in Rio Blast, and I'm absolutely FURIOUS about the crappy way they mishandled this vintage figure !

    • #59
I think Rio Blast will go exactly like Blade... fat armor, removed paint apps... they torture us just by showing the 4HM prototypes.

I'm really frustrated right now, in the past when we got to the reveals I was always excited... now I just look at the prototypes, the deco, the care the 4HM put into them and I keeping getting mixed feelings because I know that the figures that will become available to the costumers will look nothing like that...

I didn't mind certain adaptations as the look of Mattel's plastic or the "kiddy friendly" larger pegs, I certainly could look beyond that... but the way the last few figures have been arriving with deformed parts and bad looking paint apps... to me MOTUC equals a missed opportunity.

Neitlich said every single link of chain in Blade's sculpt is a separate deco, which is why they had to cost reduce him so much. LOL! Such nonsense.

So with showing Rio Blast, they prove POP fans right yet again, that they *can* do a proper waist, but just don't want to.

I think he looks great but we'll see how it ends up. Already I see another figure with too much bulk on the armor.

And yet again we have another add-on sub. If MOTUC is in such dire straights then why do they keep committing *more* resources to it? I can't wait to hear what explanation some will have to sub this year, because "teh lien is dyin brah" angle is simply, clearly, false. I have never, ever, once seen a company throw more resources at a toy line (or any other product) that *wasn't* very successful.

Don't go too fast assuming that Rio Blast's crotch piece is "right". It could still be made in hard, movement-impairing plastic, like what they did with Bow and King Hssss. Let's hope that it's made right, though, because Rio Blast already suffers from SEVERAL flaws ! I even wonder whether I'll buy him or not...

He would have had to do a little research to know that this thing was out there, which he simply doesn't do. Unless someone on the .org mentioned it, or it was in the documents he plagiarized from Emiliano, he wouldn't know it existed.

So the walk-through video showed a Scorpia with a curved leotard... if that's true they can actually do it huh!? Not that I'm surprised, everyone should know by now that they could always do it, it's just that... I don't know what to say anymore.

Ok.. This is probably what we needed to see Rio Blast in a different light. I gotta say, I am a lot happier now that he has his full head gear/cannon thingy... and he's got spurs! I'm a happier panda now, because I can display him in weapons mode... and no one will have to see his ugly head.

Rio Blast was my last remaining favorite figure from the original line. I think he looks great, the windswept hair is better than his original hair helmet. I hope the cables from his pack to his arms are flexible enough to not hinder his articulation. With this, I can say that I will be cherry picking from 2015 onward.

I litterally shuddered when I heard Scott mentioned Crackers the Clown several times during the walkthrough ! You KNOW the guy is crazy enough to release that horrible design... so Mighty Spector can have his army of clown troopers for an "attack of the clowns".

I think I'd go rabidly berserk if we never finished the vintage figures but got Crackers the Clown...

I just don't get how the founder of mattycollector and manger of the brand DOESN'T KNOW what is to be included with the figures. The truth is, he hasn't decided yet if it will be cut. When it comes down to cost, he will definitely eliminate something. Whether it's the shoulder cannons, chest, cannons, paint apps, you can guaranty that Rio Blast will get cost reduced.

And I was just thinking... Double Trouble isn't coming with 2 separate heads because it was cheaper for Mattel to make the one head with 2 faces. But he'll try and tell us that the figure cost a lot due to the action feature.

...and they should have added a third face and called her Triple Trouble... I doubt that name was taken.

I used to think that LIEguru & co. actually tried to produce 80's vintage MOTU figures decently. With Roboto, Snout Spout, Extendar and Rio-Blast (and Stinkor), it has become pretty clear that they don't give a crap.

Scott only takes care of the abominations that were born in his blackholed brain (Son of He-Man, Spector etc.). He clearly botches or doesn't take anything elso to heart. I'm extremely angry about this Rio Blast issue, 'cause it shouldn't even be an issue at all : give Rio Blast his bloody visor, for Pete's sake, and finish the vintage lines properly !

No visor might mean no Rio Blast for me. And maybe no more MOTUC figures at all...

Me too... and he says that we'll have a definite answer at SDCC. Sorry, but this is a very important question that needs a definitive answer now. He would probably cut out the visor, let the figure go through production, and by the time SDCC rolled around, the excuse would be, "Sorry, Rio Blast is already in production. No changes can be made."

Maybe Rio Blast's visor will be packaged with Crackers the Clown, with the Scientists of Primus, with the Twiggets or with the next Son of He-Man figure ? That would be a classic swindle marketing move used by LIEguru... But yes, by SDCC, it will be way too late to change a thing about this figure... which is the point of the whole maneuver. And honestly, I don't think they'll even bother to make that visor. Once again, they teased us and antagonized us with the cool Rio Blast pic with his visor, just to remove it afterwards right in front of our eyes... Sick mofos !

I still think that the BEST thing for MOTUC coming from New York Toy Fair 2014, was the POP sub.

Not because I like subs (you know I hate them with all my heart), and not because I prefer POP figures, but because this was the only smart move to make so that all vintage POP figures and MOTU figures can be released by the end of 2015.
