  • Issues with the Green Goddess

    I've always considered myself lucky - my GG still has both legs in place.

    This morning while I was dusting though - I thought that her head was extra bobbly. That's because the neck has split. I have never head swapped (too scared and no need to) and she just stands there untouched. Anyone else have neck trouble?

    So add this to the list of defects in this line I guess - gee I am more than a bit over these "Adult Collector" toys.

    But I guess I should be thankful I got her at all - isn't that the mantra?

    Time to start stocking up on these figures. In 5 years you will need at least 3 to put together one.

      Mine is intact so far, but also keep in mine she's left alone untouched! However, it's probably a matter of time until I see her resting there in pieces! Awesome quality for sure!

        To date, I have had no quality control issues with my Green Goddess figure. I guess I got lucky with the figure they sent me. In any case, I feel that his is a figure that should good get a 2.0 version made. I think it would be cool if it was just a Teela made with a light green plastic, instead of the translucent green plastic version that was made.

          The Green Goddess always had the bobble head issue. I put a little silicone in her head and put it back on years ago when she first came out. But now her legs are REALLY loose. I think it's only a matter of time before she crumbles apart.

            No issues beyond the bobble head *FURIOUSLY KNOCKING ON WOOD*

            Then again, I really don't mess with her too much to avoid the crotch exploding.

              Eterni-or, it's not the first time that somebody signals a problem with The Green Goddess neck. And the reason for this is obvious : the problem with the Green Goddess is THE BAD QUALITY, CRACKING TRANSLUCENT PLASTIC !

              Unlike what LIEguru tried to sell to the fans, the nature of the (cheap) plastic is the reason why Green Goddess is defective. It has NOTHING to do with a so-called "sonic welder". ONE MORE LIE to add to the incredible list of Neitlich's lies !

              Unfortunately, there is NOTHING we can do about these issues. Buying more Green Goddess figures will only result in multiple defective figures. Some people on "that other forum" bought 3 GG figures, to only get 3 broken and defective items as a result. Each GG went defective and broke, one after the other !

              The sad truth is that Green Goddess should be entirely redone in normal plastic (since it seems that Matty is totally unable and incompetent as far as translucent plastic goes) and sold again. Heck ! Matty should have done it and offered a FREE REPLACEMENT for people who bought her. That's what any HONEST company would have done. Unfortunately, Matty and Neitlich are as dishonest as they come...

                Make no mistakes, it's not the "translucent" plastic Mattel has the issue with, it is the same as the regular plastic used....Goddess has a "transparent" meaning clear plastic like used in CD cases plastic. The formula Mattel factories use is super brittle must be factories that make CD cases.... ....

                Funny enough, Mattel's main competitor Hasbro does Transparent plastic quite well time and time again....

                Yep... Are we to understand that Hasbro actually hires competent people and collaborates with decent vendors, while Mattel prefers dealing with idiots ?

                Seems that is the case, since Hasbro can do transparent non brittle plastic, yet Mattel....can't, at least they choose not to with MOTUC. And does DR ring a bell? Proof is there, I mean look at Ruben, he's an in house idiot.

              I've been very lucky so far with my Roboto also, I literally don't even touch him in fear that he will start to crack. Friggin glass figurines are more durable than some of these figures. Thanks Scooter.

                My Roboto has a very tiny crack. I don't move him too much because it would cause the crack to widen. Green Goddess, Snout Spout, Roboto and King Hssss should be revamped properly, with high quality materials and articulations.

                  I sold mine a while back. I've been tempted to get another but I'm just afraid it will crumble to bits

                    Yes, you were wise not to buy a second one, since the crappy translucent plastic was used on the whole production of the Green Goddess, which means that it would shatter and break at some point, anyway... I read about some fans buying multiple Green Goddess figures, and ending up with shattered bits and pieces...

                      Translucent (opaque) plastic is the same as regular plastic, transparent plastic however seems to be Mattel's Achilles' heel, among other things. Bendy things, QC in general, Ruben....etc....

                      Hasbro makes awesome clear (transparent) plastic, Mattel...sucks.

                      Goddess has that brittle ass clear plastic for her crotch that Mattel factories use....at least for Classics.

                        Their regular plastic doesn't break, though. I bet you it was a cost-cutting measure, once again, that got us a cheap and brittle translucid plastic. Quality certainly isn't Mattel's forte...

                          The regular plastic is PVC and ABS, not brittle unless it's left in direct sunlight for prolonged time, or really cold when working with it, or just old. There is a difference in the plastics used between standard figures and those with crystal clear parts that are brittle.... ABS and PVC.... stronger and more pliable vs Polystyrene....brittle....cheap.

                          Example,

                          Goddess....
                          Limbs = Translucent (meaning more opaque than clear) PVC....
                          Crotch = (likely) Transparent (but painted green) Polystyrene....

                          Teela....
                          Limbs = PVC
                          Crotch = ABS

                          All the more stress parts of these figures are almost always ABS....torsos, waists....joint pins...etc, the limbs almost always PVC. Except in the cases of Roboto, Goddess...etc.... PVC limbs, but PS torso / waist (crotch)....hence the issues.

                        Has anyone has any issue with Hydron, Captain Glenn or Slush Head's transparent plastic? Or has there been any complaints with those?
