  • "Maybe in 2016" or "When the line is finished" for more vehicles, obscuraties, etc

This is pretty much the answer we get when fans ask about future products for MOTUC. I personally think that when the line ends... that's the end. And I'd have to guess that by the time 2016 rolls around, this line will be done. I don't really believe Neitlich intends to release other items when all the vintage figures get done... if they get done. I think he intends to wrap things up within the next year or year and a half.

Aside from a handful of Neit-lickers that love his bios and SOHM nonsense, not too many people are interested in sticking around for more once the main line, POP, and NA run their course. All good things must eventually come to an end.

I wouldn't be surprised if they re-released some DOS figures in a retro style packaging like they are doing with some of the DCU figures. They will try and squeeze out some more usage of the tooling and then that's it.

But this is just speculation. What do you think will happen in a year or two?

I think they will try a 2016 sub sale, and will insert the Son of He-Man characters in it along with mostly repaints of existing figures, and it will be enough to turn off people. Mattel will blame rising costs and not poor figure selection. They'll use the dwindling sales each year to justify only doing repaints. Look at DC Universe figures, and that is probably the fate of MOTUC. Mattel could avert this by finishing up wanted remaining characters and letting the Four Horsemen create some new characters (like Draego-Man) to continue the original vintage lines (consider it the next wave in 1988, not Son of He-Man/Dare/Skeleteen stuff no one wants). In 2016, finish wanted figures while creating new exciting characters that fit and we'll be amazed by!

I think they will try a 2016 sub as well. If TG is smart (or cunning) he'd make it Filmation heavy and sprinkle in the rest of NA and minicomics. But please no SoHM.

After 2015 no more subs for me unless if they were specifically made for 200X, vehicles, creatures and playsets, otherwise I'll cherry pick the items via SOD or the secondary market...

I have a feeling that Scott will rebrand the MOTU line starting with a heavy media or a movie year, with the inclusion of his Son of He-Man era.
As for MOTUC, I think there won't be enough buyers to get the obscurities they're after, maybe some convention items here and there, but nothing like the current operation.

What's TG going to go to if MOTUC dies? Mattycollector.com would end and he would play second fiddle to whoever is running Batman, Hot Wheels or Max Steel. That's why I don't think he WANTS it to end, but I do think he is preparing for it, just in case.

I think there are a lot of fans (not the fans who just wanted the Vintage figures) who would stay onward. They brought into Classics for the new characters, not simply getting revamped old ones. Plenty of characters that still need to be made (Kittrina, Dylamug, Masque, Crita, etc.) and plenty of character variants (Snake Armor He-Man, Filmation Teela, Mini-Comic Trap Jaw, Cloak and Dagger Evil-Lyn for starters).

I agree there are many more characters that could be made, and I always say that this line has so much potential... but personally, I'm tired. Neitlich says he's tired? LOL! I think many fans are tired and just want this line to end... but only because of Neitlich and Mattel's constant bullshlit. If someone else ran the line and didn't gouge us with shipping and dollar a year price increases, along with decreases in quality... maybe there would be a different outlook from those fans who just want MOTUC to hurry up and get done. If this line went into the POG direction with the 4H exclusively in creative control, I'd have a better attitude. We need the dinosaurs and Eternia playset!!!

Firstly, its an absurd concept : You may get new things when the line is over. What? You may have a drink when the glass is empty. Um...?

Secondly, I honestly think at this point no one should bank on the line lasting past this year. 2015 will be a major stretch, and 2016 is pretty much wishful thinking. Yes, there are plenty of characters/variants the hardcore fans would like to have, but with absolutely no compelling reason to believe we will get them, why sub? And, apparently, no sub = no line.

I think these mini subs are a water test. Neitlich knows the year long sub model is in jeopardy. with filmation being successful and if the PoP sub goes through, if 2015 doesn't have the numbers (I believe it won't or will JUST make it) he will introduce mini subs. divvy up the remaining characters, test interest in other new or obscure characters and see if those take. I can see a mini-comics/pre-filmation sub, a filmation part 2, a 2.0 sub, a variant sub, another PoP sub

I just hope he doesn't do 1. SoHM. 2. DC comics versions of the characters. I'm good with most everything else

When the line is finished, it will be finished, and that's it.

Now, in 2016 and afterwards, if that time comes, there could still be cool figure designs : Fang-or, The Great Black Wizard, more cool 200X figs (we're still missing Evilseed, Calix, Prahvus, Veena, the Horde Wraiths... and maybe some of them are even scheduled for 2014-2015, we don't know for sure), more Filmation figures... Then the NA faction should be completed too. What I'm worried about is that we'll see a whole bunch of unwanted or lame characters, or more Son of He-Man monstrosities...

I'd love to see the MYP Giants. Or the other three Snake Men army builder models. Or the Horde Wraiths. Tuvar and Baddhra. Mini-Comic Tri-Klops.

Seriously, I don't want the ride to end. Mattel can make some crazy decisions, but after six years I'm a little thick skinned to most of them. But Battleground Evil-Lyn, Frosta, 200X He-Man and 200X heads being banned were my hot buttons that I REALLY disagreed with.

Agreed, however I'm exhausted from Mattel's business model, and I wish they would give us a 200X sub that includes the ABC giants, some vehicles and playsets and get it over with.
