LEGO is inherently a lot more expensive than all brick-building companies due to their high quality ABS and development. So other products will give you more quantity for you money no doubt, especially when there is other party licenses were involved like DC or Star Wars.

That said, I was actually pleased with what Mega has to offer in this little set. And I really hope the trend will continue with the rest of the line, especially knowing Mega is already part of Mattel's departments.

Here's the thing - This is the last $20 set I bought from Lego and this is the $20 Mega Wind Raider. I like them both, but the Wind Raider just feels like a more cohesive set and more value for dollar. Of course, the individual buyer's mileage may vary...

You might be surprised how LEGO designers and engineers can come up with some of their craziest stuff and clever solutions if you're into it like I am, but considering that price point, I think Mega did a well done job with the Wind-Raider at least. And I'm sure they've done the same with their other lines like Halo and such.

As for that Castle Grayskull, I'm not sure how stable it is when it is lifted without looking at the instructions, where LEGO generally uses Technic elements and SNOT (Stud Not On Top) techniques in their big none modular structures for stability and mobility.

From what I've seen, I think Mega is a bit more traditional in their designs, and they tend to use special big molded elements to compliment some of their finished models knowing that their main target market is mostly collectors.

LEGO on the other hand puts emphasis on the creative play, and try to encourage their builders and customers to come up with different alternative builds and added solutions to meet their own creative tailored needs beyond what the main sets actually provide.

Those Mega sets are likley marketed towards adults and collectors, while most of the LEGO sets that under the $125 price range are largely marketed toward kids who are under 14, so durability is a design factor.
Collectors oriented LEGO themes such as Creator Expert, Architecture, and the high priced sets are a little more traditional and/or sometimes a bit more complex to put together especially if there were meant to be basically display models.

I just grabbed Evil-Lyn and Man-at Arms from eBay. Can't wait to see Statos available soon. Hopefully more vehicles and playlets will be announced soon over at NYTF.

I've built the Wind-Raider, and it's a solid set for what it is. The techniques used are more traditional than I what I've expected. LEGO would've approached it in a slightly different manner.

All in all, the quality of the plastic is good, however I don't know if stress marks would start appearing over time since the ABS quality isn't on par with LEGO's plastic!

I scored the five pack and the Wind Raider at Walmart today. $20 per. Also found MAA and Evil-Lyn, so completed the set thus far in one fell swoop.

BTW, I got my my 5 pack Mega Construx figures and Wind-Raiders from Amazon, they're currently available and still cheaper than Entertainment Earth.

JANG Bricks is mainly a well known LEGO sets reviewer on You-Tube, however he occasionally reviews Mega Construx sets that he collects. Surprisingly he reviewed the Mega Construx MOTU Wind-Raider and the Mini-Figure 5 Pack if you're interested:

I'm tempted to get these. These are pretty cool, and I like getting 5 figures in one pack.

I just bought a set today. Really looking forward to the Wind Raider. I'm hoping this sells well so that they make more vehicles.

I hope these make it to Canada. I’m still waiting for wave 2 of the Mega Constux Heroes to show up here.
As far as I know, the gift set and the Wind Raider is exclusive to Entertainment Earth. Shipping from Entertainment Earth to Canada is very reasonable, so it shouldn't take a big bite out of your wallet. I find they are quick to deliver stuff.
