I like where you're going with this. I too think of the grey as a grunt trooper. The pearl/silver could be a sergeant, and the red or black can both be captains. If it's six to a case then 3 Grey, 1 Pearl/Silver, 1 Red, & 1 Black...or 1 each and four to a case.

They could even include battle damage stickers..

Really like the silver-ish color on the forthcoming Horde Troopers. Definitely getting at least 2 of these (if I can find them - LOL).

I like the look of the silver better, but I like the grey too.
How about to make Andy happy , they release full cases of Horde troopers with 3 being grey and one silver.
Then Andy can have his chase that isn’t too hard to obtain and there’s still plenty of Horde troopers to army build. We can consider the silver ones either elite troopers or higher ranking officers in our Horde trooper armies.

I definitely like the silver/pearl look on the troopers.

I'm guessing he'll be accessible once the shipping debacles are sorted out.

Cool figure. Hopefully store shelves will have them.

I was thinking more along the MVC comic versions but then when I went searching for an image of them I was reminded of those skull warriors of Skeletor. I always wanted those since they were unique to that comic at the time.

Of course there's also these guys..

Vac Metal is sooo 80's and I love it... BTW, when I was a kid, I used to use silver paint on some of my toys even though I was a purist most of the times.

I gotta go with silver too. It's like one of those things I never knew I wanted but now I do!

    Silver for me.

A vac metal chromed trooper would be the most awesome placeholder IMO!

The last factory I worked at..err two factories ago, I was able to vac metal some of my toys and I wish I would've done the horde trooper but alas mine was incomplete or broken and I ended up giving it to another forum member just to pay it forward.

I'll take sliver if it's done right of course....
It would've been awesome if they made them in chrome like the Battlestar Galactica Centurions, at least the upper torso armor!

I'd replace the 2 palace guards with 2 trolls/goblins and make the entire 12 pack an evil set. ;-)

Plus we're already getting the palace guard set separately via BBTS and EE...

    2 horde trooper, 2 snakemen, 2 palace guardsman, 2 bone warriors, 2 hoverbots, & 2 Skelcons pre-order 12 pack

Of course I was being facetious here... I simply cannot see Mattel making 6-12 army packs of figures ever! To them these aren't Hot Wheels...

On the other hand the Four Housemen did announce 12 and 24 army builder packs of Cosmic Legions for pre-order! So in theory it can be done for MOTU as well, but Mattel isn't that type of company, but you'll never know, someday it could happen!?

I'd like to see that too. Maybe two packs to keep costs down but with a good supply of them

A red or a black Trooper makes a little more sense as chase figures, but the common grey/silver ones just don’t make much sense to me at least…

I would like to see a pack of 6-12 HTers as a placeholder! Same goes for Snakemen, Skeleton Warriors and Hover Robots. 😉

If he was impossible to get than yeas absolutely the worst placeholder ever but why not have a another chance at the red or black trooper or even some chance at a grey one. Like I said small ratio. ..and that's if they just don't do a whole other production run of said colors.

(Mech slaps Andy with a loose horde trooper and says, "Gah take your damn chase placeholder and friggin stick it")

An army builder chase figure!!! Don't you think it's oxymoronic?

If this was chosen as a chase figure, he would become the worst "placeholder" ever...

  • Andy

Sorry this is Origins...I meant placeholder!

I normally do not like chase figures either unless they're 1 of every 2 cases or some other small ratio but people are going to army build these like crazy...so say you see one then you'll probably think "damnit they got me" but you'll have a cool ass figure. This is the ONE figure I'd be totally ok with them making a chase of.

    Please, NOOOOOO chase figures EVER!

... Unless it's in funky disco colors with a disco ball and a star bass guitar as the main weapon!
