There's a guy on Reddit already showing off his Wave 9 figures and I haven't even seen Wave 8 yet. <sigh>

New MOTU Origins reveals from Mattel!

Still seeing nothing but Naked Stratos on the shelves near me and a few Buzz Offs. Reddit post recently intimated there is a distinct lack of Wave 8 in the states at actual retail stores, although I did get my 2 Sun Man figures from Amazon and they were in relatively good shape, especially by Amazon's standards (they're terrible for collectors.)

In my Targets the latest waves of Origins seem to be in stock according to Target.com, but I'm just too lazy/occupied to go and check or make a purchase.
I think it depends on where you live and how popular MOTU is, and also on how active the "toy hunters/scaplers" in your area.
And BTW, I got my two copies of Sun Man earlier this month from Amazon as well...

Ok, so now allegedly, the Roton will be a Wal~Mart exclusive of some kind: https://www.upcindex.com/194735059003

No idea!... But I'm guessing it'll be out as soon as it arrives from China or it get released from the ports.
That listing was posted about a month ago or so with a hidden link. A while ago it was available for purchase from the UK!

Yes, Amazon's actual store doesn't sell flocked Panthor, only third part sellers.
I'm surprised that it wasn't offered on Mattel Creations after all this time!... Just another dumb decision by Mattel!

Really looking forward to the Roton - I like the nice addition of the canopy, which is an homage to the '80's model kit (which I never had). This is definitely on the top of my list of non-electronic MOTU vehicles I wanted to see re-made. Hopefully I will be able to find this @ retail, or at least won't have to pay expensive after-market prices if I can only find it online.

Has it been confirmed that the Roton is actually a Walmart exclusive?... If so, by whom may I ask, Mattel?
-
-
Good question - I've read conflicting info. about this. Some places online say it's a Wal-mart exclusive, and others say that it will eventually also be available on Amazon, etc. I've gone back & edited my previous post.

There's also reports on reddit now of Wun-Dar being released in retail stores in California. I can't verify the truth of that, but people are definitely posting pictures of Wun-Dar in hand on reddit. They're getting them somewhere.

For what it's worth, the Walmart page listing says doesn't appear to say anything about it being an exclusive: https://www.walmart.com/ip/seort/344366776
Reportedly you could pre-order earlier, but now it just says "Check Availability"

Probably Walmart made a deal with Mattel to sell it first for a period of time just like the early release of Castle Grayskull 2 years ago, and then it will be available everywhere thereafter!?... Keep your eyes on BBTS and EE...
We should know more info soon from the SDCC panel or even before then.

-
It's back, I was able to pre-order a couple, however they claim it'll ship in Nov?!
I always can cancel if I find it somewhere else...

"Some fans" claim that Mattel is doing it on purpose just to hype the fast sellouts to prove their site is hot and also to please the CEO and the investors!?
So yes, it's moronic, stupid and probably malicious to piss fans off!
How come some scalpers ended up with multiple (more than the maximum limit) Wun-Dars online? Bots, multiple accounts?
Shit like that brings back the early days of MattyCollector for sure!
-
-
So if that's true, then they're either really stupid, or they think consumers are really stupid, yes?
Because the idea is they can do whatever they want and people will keep buying from them anyways, or, they don't know their ass from a hole in the ground and they're going to kill the line?
Unless they're just counting on the scalpers to keep them going.
-
-
For them scalpers or not, products are selling out on their site and that what counts at the end of the day…
Hope they’d fix the issues asap before they start losing momentum and eventually their MOTU fans…

Yes, this is ridiculous. Grizzlor is an iconic & unique vintage MOTU character & is especially interesting due to the "fur" and the savage appearance, etc. And, this forthcoming Origins version is obviously superior to the original figure; for one thing, the fur on this new one is an improvement.
And, any Horde collection/display would obviously be incomplete without this character. So, they decide to make this an exclusive?! Screw that - I know how difficult these Mattel Creations exclusives are to track down if you try to get them off the website.
I could see making a variant of an already existing figure an exclusive (Christmas Tri-klops, etc.). Sure, completists want everything but at least - in these cases - collectors (who can't get the exclusive) can at least typically find the regular version of the figure.
However, it's awful that they're making a figure like Grizzlor an exclusive, given that he's never been released in the line before. WTF?! This should be a mainstream Origins release. It's crap like this that really turns me off to collecting these toys.

So true...
It's really sad that we have to quit collecting this line due to crappy decisions like that! The figures and the toys themselves are simply awesome for what they are.
I sent a detailed feedback to MC ranting about all the dumb decisions this brand is suffering from in the past 20+ years since the 200X days (after the Wun-Dar debacle), and still they keep repeating similar mistakes to this day!... It's mostly due to bad marketing/sales and management.

Been a while since I did a toy one so at the last minute thought I'd do one today. Found and got Mantenna and passed on Pighead
Mantenna--Didn't have as a child. Rose colored glasses commanded me to get it. Almost bet I don't have classis and not sure but if I do it was because of the rose colored glasses commanding me to get it.
Pighead--Don't think I heard of Sun Man as a kid IF I did I very quickly forgot about them. Didn't get it this time because reasons.

I haven't seen anything new recently at all. Both my Targets are empty except for a few Naked Stratos, and a random Buzz Off. They don't seem to have any problem keeping Masterverse in stock though.
I even broke down and checked out Wal-Mart (only the 2nd time I've been to a Wal-Mart in the 6 years I've lived here) and they had the same, although they still had some flocked Panthors, and were loaded with Stridors, but they were full price ($32 or some such.)

I was lucky several days ago, and got both Snout Spout & Leech (Origins) @ Wal-mart. I couldn't believe that I was able to find both for retail cost - incredible. These are the first new Origins figures I've seen in a brick & mortar store since late 2021.
Both are amazing figures. I haven't opened either yet, but I really like the extra heads for both & the extra hands for Leech. Snout Spout definitely looks intentionally more 'robotic' than the Vintage version. And, I like how you can make Leech look more like a traditional "monster" with the extra head & hands. Also happy that they both retain the original play feature, i.e. the water spraying from the trunk for Snout Spout, and the suction cups (that work) for Leech.

Amazing wave. If I can find them in stores, I'll get most of these:
-Whiplash: Had the original Vintage one back in the day. Excellent sculpt & colors. I like the "Humanoid Lizard" aspect to this character. Hopefully this new one will still have the "tail whipping" action.
-King Randor: Never had the original, which was one of the later offerings in the Vintage line (1986). Great sculpt here. This was obviously based on the look of the character from the Filmation cartoon.
-Mini-comic Trap-Jaw: I like the lime-green color, the purple boots, and the gray-metal arm - nice. Though I don't usually like variants, at least this is based on a specific look from the vintage mini-comic. Looking forward to getting this as well. As with "Naked Stratos" I suspect this may be easier to find in stores than the regular Trap-Jaw (which I still haven't seen @ retail yet); if this is what happens, it will be ironic - but not surprising - LOL.
I wish the "Christmas colors" mini-comic Tri-klops (variant) is also made available as a mass-market retail figure, but I somehow doubt that will ever happen.

I like the variety of this little wave and Whiplash is on top of this list for me.
Finally mini-comic Trap Jaw is being released after they've waited on him for like a year or so.
Kind Randor looks vibrant and was expected after having Jitsu's armor... Digitino looks great IMO, and it's always good to have another Sun Man character in the line.
There are a bunch of 200X royalties in Randor's artwork, and I hope they will get made eventually.

Recently got the Roton @ Wal-mart. Incredible toy. I can't remember if I ever had the Vintage version. This new Origins version has a similar sculpt, but the extras re: the roll cage & the face plate definitely bring this over the top. Glad that this doesn't seem to be too tough to find.
Hopefully new MOTU toys will be easier to find @ retail with the holidays coming up. It seems like the only time I see new toys @ stores these days is in the Fall.

Re: the forthcoming Mekanek w/Ground Ripper set:
I like the way this looks, but I don't like that they removed the "special features" from this vehicle/figure. The Mekanek should have retained the extendable, mechanical neck (like the Vintage version), and the Ground Ripper/Road Ripper should have included the "power cord" that enabled you to "race" the vehicle over the floor.
As it stands, it looks like they included an "alternate head" w/extendable neck for Mekanek. And, re: the Ground Ripper - it appears that you may just be able to push this & it'll move (re: the wheels), but it won't have the cool feature that the Vintage one had.
Also interesting that this is not called "The Road Ripper" - I guess because of copyright/rights issues with another product/company?! Not a big deal, since the vehicle looks almost identical to the original - the lime-green color is key, of course.
That being said, these both look great, and the Mekanek especially has a better sculpt than the original. I also like the "alternate head" for the Ground Ripper.
And, I really dig the box art/packaging, which intentionally reminds me of the Vintage MOTU toys. I especially like the nice touch of the moon (w/cloud cover) in the background.
So, I'm definitely getting this set.

This new Origins King Hiss looks fantastic! As a kid, I never liked the original toy because I felt that the Snake "transforming" feature looked awful, cheap, and sub-par. Conversely, this new one looks MUCH better. It's great that instead of having the full Snake character underneath the armor (as in the old one), they actually are providing different parts to "create" the Snake character re: the head and arms. But, you can still take the armor off & 'reveal' the snake body underneath. Very creative & something that was sorely lacking in the original.
I'm definitely getting all of these Snake Men, and for the first time am looking forward to getting King Hiss.

I've order most that wave from EE since they offer free shipping at the moment and most likely have/or get the domestic packagings.
BBTS have been getting the multi-language foreign packeting figures that have textless mini-comics, so I've beed trying to skip on those whenever I can.
The Snakemen and most of the snake related figures/items are among my favorites in the MOTU lineup. We just need that dreaded Snake Mountain to be made for them to occupy while Skeletor and his minions are being casted out.
