Petition to "Save Grizzlor"

Surprisingly, my the initial 9/9/22 order of Grizzlors has shipped already this morning!... So my guess was correct about the initial batch that was sold out in 5 minutes or so, it was already available to ship out from the get go.
-
-
I've also pre-ordered an extra third one just in case... I might sell him later on when/if he arrives!
I'm not like a huge fan of this character or anything like that, but I still think he looks cool and unique as a furry MOTU action figure, and he's also an important core Horde character.

Thanks for posting this.
Looks like I’m actually going to be able to get an order in for a Wun-Dar now. *knocks on wood*
-
-
Well, despite my opinions on the character I just ordered one. in the end I couldn't say no. Never had him as a child. Can't remember if I have the classics version. Wouldn't surprise me if I passed on him.

You're welcome Man-E, and BTW you don't have to edit your posts for redactions or corrections. No one here will come after you for any discrepancies. :-)
I normally do it only to correct typos or obvious grammatical mistakes. ;-b
Just remember that tomorrow is the "made-to-order" period which will give you two full days to place the pre-order, and then it might take Mattel probably six months to a year to ship those figures!... The same goes for the Wun-Dar pre-order at the end of the current month.
Good luck....

My friend, you can pre-order the figure in the next 48 hours starting tomorrow early morning... And in two weeks Wun-Dar will back for pre-order as well. Please, check out the posts I made above!
Today's batch of Grizzlor was probably the units that were made before SDCC and were ready to ship. I was able to score 2 this morning before they were gone in a few minutes... But the record still goes to Wun-Dar a few months ago, I think under 3 minutes.
Again, you can get ahold of both Grizzlor and Wun-Dar starting tomorrow morning at 12:01 AM PT.

I didn't even attempt to order Grizzlor this morning since I felt it would be fruitless; plus, I was busy & wouldn't have been able to try anyway.
EDIT: Thanks for the info., Mechanizor. Glad that this is being made available again tomorrow.

Thanks for the info, and your practice or perspective isn't a bad one to be honest, and it's saves you a lot of money and headaches for sure...
Maybe I should be like you and only stick to the toys that I really want and feel good about... That said, I'm doing better these days with other lines, collections and hobbies. I'm being very frugal in comparison to what I use to be because I'm still living in a very small space, and my current income is very limited to what I can spend on none essential things.
As for Origins, I might get everything as long as I'm convinced it will add appeal to the line, but if we started getting crap like Mighty Spector and Cy-Chop, I'll definitely pass on them.

The only Hode members I had were Leech and Modulok. Wanted Multi Bot.
Can't remember if I own 2002 Grizzlor. Don't have 2002's handy to check.
Can't remember if I have Classics Grizzlor. Don't have many of my Classics handy to double check. I might.
Not a completist.
The one vintage figure I didn't have as a kid but wish I did is Meckanek.
Didn't have vintage Bow or Optikk. But after getting their Classics I wished they had vintage Masters body.
Didn't have vintage Thunder Punch He-Man but after getting the classic version I super fast warmed up to him.
I swear with each figure I have some kind of "story" to go with it.
I wasn't picky. Or a cherry picker. Just got what I liked or wanted.
-
-
Wow, I thought you're one of those original characters completists and Grizzlor is part of the original Horde faction!... Do you own by any chance the Classics version?
I never had more than half of the original vintage toys, but I always wanted the complete lineup even though some of those characters never really appealed to until this day.Last edited by Mechanizor; 08-24-2022, 06:05 AM.

I'm going to try to get Wun-Dar. Think I'm going to pass on Grizzlor. Didn't have him as a kid. No rose colored glasses for him. Always thought he was a poor man's Beastman.

Sooo, Mattel has finally listened and they've made Grizzlor a "made-to-order" figure from Mattel Creations, and the pre-ordering period will last for like 48 hours from Sep 10th- Sep 11th:
Hopefully all the other MC exclusives are getting the same treatment somehow, where bigger items need a bigger pre-ordering window...Last edited by Mechanizor; 08-23-2022, 06:57 PM.

It is a single figure with an extra head and accessories to make a mini comic Man-at-Arms, even from BBTS and EE.
And they’re sold by 3rd party sellers on Amazon, not the actual Amazon store as far as I know.

Sorry BZ, but strangely this sounds a little selfish of you!... What about the 99% of us who weren't be able to score a PC/MC high-priced exclusive Grizzlor?!
You know how Mattel is a bit wishy washy as of late with their decisions, and releasing him in that manner without a proper explanation is a bit worrying for us collectors, especially after that stupid Wun-Dar debate!
I really hope they have enough of him in stock, or allow a good amount of window for people to lock their pre-orders on him.
BTW, are you planning to get that sizable Eternia set once it's available?

Figures take time to produce because many different companies use the same factories for different products and not just toys (household, office, etc), and it's about getting in line to schedule a production timeframe and have molds ready made and all sort of other issues.
Then you have a shipping to schedule and to plan for with other entities, then shipping takes weeks/months to reach coasts, and then unloading the shipments from the ports are now a nightmare, millions of tons are behind schedule with certain products have the priority to reach the market.
Now if Mattel have their own dedicated branded factories (like LEGO for example) without other companies being involved, probably the production would been a lot faster... Honestly, I'm not sure if big companies like Hasbro or Mattel own some of their factories overseas?!
Formo's Legends of Dragonor is an 80's esque type of brand, and I'm not sure if any big investor would support such a line with media (cartoons/gaming) in todays market, unless they believe in it that it will succeed and make them money. Passion alone doesn't usually cut it unless you're already rich or have a big following.
The same goes for The Four Horsemen's Mythic Legions and Cosmic Legions and other brands that I don't usually follow...
Sadly, you're right about Mattel dropping the ball, because their CEO, management and investors aren't really toy geeks like me and you.

I'm not disagreeing with you (and I'm certainly ignorant of the process), but I don't understand in this day and age how it takes them so long to make a figure. People are literally designing and printing their own figures on 3D printers, so why does it take them so long to make tooling to mass product them?
It sounds like they're too busy outsourcing to other countries using out of date technology to me.
I gotta say, I was not behind the whole "Lords of Power" or whatever they landed on for the name of that Formo line, but if they could come up with a convincing script and get someone to put a cartoon or something behind it that was good, they might be able to eat up Mattel's market a little because jesus are they good at dropping the ball.

Yes, usually "Make to Order/MTO" takes a while to deliver, 6 six to a year or two years depending on the product and the total amount of units made. But they are guaranteed. Super7 and the Four Horsemen do this style of pre-ordering system for their figures. How and how long Mattel will be able to tackle this is a mystery to me but it's a lot better than having a certain amount of units made, and then two minutes sell outs.
As for the WWE figure, he's like S7's Ultimates just a little cheaper.
I'm assuming that MOTUO Camo Kobra Khan will be either an MTO experiment, or another Wun-Dar fiasco to witness next! ?
-
-
Yes, but the ship date is like July 21, 2023, and it's something like twice the price of a regular figure?
I mean speculation is just running rampant at this point from "Mattel is driving up scarcity" to "Oh, they just want to show the CEO how quickly the figures sell out."
From my perspective, they're either just too dumb to realize it, or they just don't want to make money. Those are the only explanations that make sense to me.
When your shit is selling out in 2 minutes, you make more shit.

That petition was started by an Org member. I haven't signed up because they're typically useless when it comes to upper management decisions, but it doesn't hurt.
BTW, someone has mentioned that MC's Cody Rhodes pre-order is getting an open window for like a week, and we're wondering if MOTU Origins would get the same treatment from now on?:
The exclusive Ultimate Edition Cody Rhodes™ Figure is available for purchase with NO LIMITS from 7/22 at 9am PT through 7/29 at 9am PT. You may cancel your pre-order during the sale period by calling customer service. After the sale period ends, all sales are final.
