Who here bought Origins Sun Man?

I have a question for anyone here who bought Sun Man and also has Clamp Champ.

Any chance the skin tones match on the two figures? I’ve passed on picking up Sun Man numerous times now because I can’t get past the headsculpt. Those large goofy looking doe eyes may match the original figure, but has had me walk out of the action figure aisle empty handed every time to date. I’m curious if the extra head that comes with Clamp Champ would match skin tone wise, then I could add a goatee or change the hair in some way to differentiate the two Clamp Champ heads.

Interesting head switch. I agree with the head-sculpt of the Origins Sun man being somewhat odd. I don't like weird expressions on action figures, and when I see something like this I will typically pass on the figure. Another example of this: The "Screaming" 3.75" retro G.I. Joe ARAH Duke figure from several years back - terrible; I also passed on this figure, and I would normally have gotten this - if not for the face sculpt.

I am planning on getting the Masterverse Sun Man - due to the sculpt (and face) being great.

If you're able to get the Target exclusive 3 pack on a discount, it has the "better" head sculpt for Sun-Man as well.

…. I can’t help it, but every time I look at that Origins Sun Man head sculpt I envision him saying “Anyway, like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it.”

BTW, according to this video, both figures do have slightly different shades of plastic:

Mine are currently packed, so I won't be able to confirm it for you at the moment.

Just wanted to say thanks again for the input regarding my question.

I happened to find a carded Sun Man yesterday at a little toy store in a tiny town for only $14.99 (Origins are $22.99 in Canadian Walmarts that actually carry the line, more so at specialty shops).
Even though the skin tones aren’t an exact match, the difference is negligible, so I’m very happy Clamp Champ came with a second head. I couldn’t have taken off that stupid doe eyed Tracy Morgan looking head fast enough. Too bad the head didn’t look like the one on the cover of the mini comic Sun Man came with. Anyway, I’m using him as a driver for the Road Ripper.

That head sculpt is even an insult to T.M. LOL.
Probably that head sculpt was done by the same guy who did Kronis's head while smoking crack!... BTW, I was planning to do the same thing you did when I customize him with other parts, since I have the other Sun Man from the Target exclusive who came with the better looking head.
