Lords of Power by FORMO Toys

This whole scenario gets more bizarre by the week. Obviously Lords of Power was a contentious title, but that trailer doesn't even show the new figures and if you blink you'd miss most of the figure designs.
The "story" isn't the least bit compelling either. So it's a multi verse where they chase after special armors?

I agree with some of your points...Nonetheless, it's someone's idea/dream to make their own toy line and just going for it. How it would appeal to consumers is always risky and adventurous, especially if you're running on a limited budget!
It's obviously not for your average today's kids, but most likely for "kids like us" who grow up in the 70's 80's 90's... It's a very niche line and Formo (for now) isn't doing much publicity about it.
Probably they are waiting for the first run to happen and see how they'd turn out in terms of QC and appeal before making a bigger noise about it. You don't wanna go loud and then totally crash if things don't meet expectations especially if you're a baby company like they are!
-
That's my point. It was a niche kinda thing from the get go, and now they've drifted away from that niche when they lost the Taylor designs.
I dunno. I often come off as negative because I don't understand other people or why they do the things they do and I especially don't understand the masses, which is why I stay away from all forms of social media, so my opinion isn't worth a whole lot.

Reading people's opinions and "sometimes" engaging with others like we're doing here right now, will always embellish your thought process and how you might be able to understand people from their own perspectives, nonetheless, you gotta be thoughtful of how you proceed the information that was given to you and how it would influence you for the long run. It's part of your learning experience... But then again, sometimes it's a load of time wasting if engaging with others doesn't make a positive impact on you eventually. Even the best of us has egotistical nature to deal with and tame, so it's a continuing learning process.(Sorry for my unneeded opinion here, but I thought I'd share)
As for the Formo folks, I think they've wanted to start their own idea and story, but instead of creating their original characters from scratch, they've borrowed some of Mark Taylor's original work as a tribute simply because Emiliano was kinda close to him over the years and also was a diehard fan of his work before he passed away. So you can see where Formo was coming from, but it seems that they took the wrong approach there since Mattel's legal department was just waiting for them... Then again, it's part of the learning experience. ;-)

Wasn't the retail on these going to be $30? That's more than an Origins figure which is probably better quality, and has the MOTU story attached to it.
That figure design looks like a knock off to me, not an original figure (which it was never intended to be, lets be honest.) So that's where I have a really hard time seeing why anyone would want these.

Even He-Man was a knock off of Conan and Frazetta's work if you didn't know!
Almost everything we see and love was inspired by something that preceded it... Of course there are moments of pure genius that come from the divine, or from accidental experiments but those are a little rarer in general
BTW "sometimes" rehashing old ideas and designs can be very beneficial especially for those who haven't experienced before!

Mechanizor, when someone replies to a thread, the thread and the forum heading are highlighted in the forum menu so I know there have been new posts.
But when someone comments, there doesn't seem to be any way of knowing without checking each thread. Is this a board limitation or do I have a setting wrong?
I recall someone liking my post once and I had a notification at the top of the page that took me forever to figure out how to clear, but I haven't gotten a single notification since. (maybe nobody likes me?)

Honestly, all I know it's a board setting and probably it's only accessible by the main administrator/s, and I don't know if it can be modified or not!?
From my experience around here, if someone replies to your posts and the threads you've started, you get a notification, other than that you don't unless it's coming from the admin!
BTW, Emiliano from Formo, says the new figures will have 10 points of articulations but all are swivels (no ball joins like Origins). the extra added POA are basically cuts/swivels at the calves and forearms. Probably their main purpose is for customization.

So apparently pre-orders are open:
https://www.formotoys.com/shop
You can only buy the figures as a complete set.
For $180 (which comes out to $25 per figure) you can get all the figures, or for $200 you can get all the figures, plus some cardboard junk (background and character sheets of some sort?) and a poster.

I bit the bullet and order the early kit from BBTS, since I didn't have to pay the full amount, just a $22 downpayment for now, besides the markup wasn't too bad, only $20 (10%) for the whole set.
If things go wrong for some reason, BBTS is more reliable and has been around for a while.

EE on rare occasions get their stuff earlier than BBTS when it comes to MOTU, but after dealing with both, I'd prefer the BBTS.
In my experience EE was a good option for getting the Classics Snake Mountain.

As I type this I'm watching "Pixel" Dan's video of Masterverse's New He-Man, and I saw an interesting comment. And it's new to me. And news to me.
Since I'm not a Facebook or twitter guy I may be a bit behind on things. And I don't go digging for info or juicy tidbits.
I'll summarize and para phrase it. Mattel sent a cease and desist letter in regards to the Barbaro figure.

Emiliano already hinted this info in the interview he did with FOP a while back without mentioning the name of the company "Mattel".
The initial design of Barbaro was a paying homage to Mark Taylor's and Tony Guerrero's prototype of He-Man, which Mattel apparently owns legally somehow!
Also Keldor's design looked way too close what Oskuro was like!... So that's why Formo had to upgrade their designs to this new format! They might even revisit the "Adversary" with a newer look in the next waves if/when they happen.
The new look is much better IMHO.
