  • Sony Pictures Announces Mighty Spector Spinoff!

In a move said "to forge a new legacy in the story of John Spector on screen," Sony Pictures Entertainment announced today that they will, in association with Matty Entertainment, develop several new projects based on the Masters of the Universe franchise. Under the new deals, the studio announced that Scott "Toyguru" Neitlich will be writing the screenplay for The Mighty Spector, which the studio hopes will become their next big franchise. That film will go into production next fall for release on April 1st, 2016. In addition, the team will build on the cinematic foundation laid by Scott Neitlich in his popular toy bios. They will expand the franchise with Geoff Johns writing the screenplay for Sir Laser-Lot: Agent of Spector. Scott Neitlich will write, with an eye to direct, The Mighty Spector and the Time Agents, focusing on the main villain of the franchise... The Unnamed One!

Commenting on the announcement, Don Belgrade, president of Columbia Pictures said, "The Mighty Spector film franchise is one of our studio's greatest assets. We are thrilled with the creative team we have assembled to delve more deeply into the world of The Mighty Spector and, to a lesser extent, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. We believe that Scott has a unique and exciting vision for how to expand the Mighty Spector universe in each of these upcoming films."

The most successful franchise in the history of Columbia Pictures, the four "Spider-Man" films to date have taken in over $3.2 billion worldwide. The Mighty Spector film is expected to crush Spider-Man's record on it's first weekend in theatres.

Finally! It's about time Mattel listened to what the fans really wanted! This is easily going to end up being the biggest movie of all time!
