What do you know DA, a LOT of people are agreeing with your notion at the moment! LOL...

Now I'm just more concerned about this toy property than ever before, because those Mattel wigs might just pull the plug once and for all if they see a dip in the ratings and the toy sales, plus we're still in the pseudo pandemic era, and inflation is growing on the basic stuff people need to survive on!

This is not a surprise. Mattel, if anything, have proven themselves to be the Masters of Bad Decisions. I mean, they pretty much had Disney and WB eating out of their hands just a few years ago - to the point that people seriously thought they would get the Marvel Legends and maybe even Star Wars licenses, and there were rumors they were buying Hasbro - and look where they are now.

Anyway, the show...JFC. I know Kevin Smith is a hack, and I saw the clusterfark coming, but I had no idea it could or would be as bad as it is.

Oh Mattel, you're a mess... I just hope Origins and Mega Blocks won't be affected by the current drama.

Not necessarily just because he's involved. Yes he's a hired salesman for the geeky audience, but not everything he promotes has to be crap!

I'm guessing this show will be very similar in the direction of Castlevania, lots of slow moments and dialogues, and some good action sequences here and there, however I hope the quality of the actual animation and colorful backgrounds will make up for the convoluted and weak moments in the show... I'm just crossing my fingers.

I think they should've never advertised this as a continuation of the Filmation series. It clearly is not if they are allowed to have blood and guts involved.

I think they set an expectation by saying it's a continuation. If they said it's going to be Tee-ra and the Masters of the Universe or just like hey, we're trying something new in lines with the old Filmation series, then there would be a totally different kind of anticipation.

The animation is amazing but I hope they don't blow their whole wad in the first episode or folks are going to reject it before the season is even over.

Everyone seems to be willing to give it a try and see how it goes but will it actually feel like Masters of the Universe or a bastardized version under the Masters label?

        ETA:
I think dark was referring to the first trailer you posted about the 1:08 mark. It looks like something out of Teen Titans go

Sorry for the laaaaaaaaaaag, life gets in the way.

Mech, my issue is with the leaked cult scene leak. Tri-Klops is a cult leader? This is a natural progression of what previous portrayal of Tri-Klops anywhere ever? Meanwhile, gritty butch dyke Teela stands amongst his cut and paste followers unmolested until he send Body Horror Boy after her, at which point she Doffs Her Jedi Robes (TM) (R), Reveals Her Hidden Badass Weapon (TM) (R) and slices him up! Meanwhile, all the rest of the cut and paste baddies politely wait their turns to attack her.

        ...really?

And all this grim nonsense is supposed to be the continuation of the Filmation series.

        ...really?

That's not even getting into the wholly valid question of why this thing even exists to begin with.

        Garbage. Pure garbage.

Ahh, I get what you're saying now, and I agree that the plot doesn't sound a Filmation-esque, nor the style of animation, but that's probably where the bad marketing of this series has started!
This Revelation to me looks and feels more like a gritty version of 200X MYP in the style of Castlevania, but since most people (the millennials and the non-hardcore fans) probably never seen the MYP cartoon or even even heard of the 200X toys, so Mattel's marketing team and their boy Kevin went for the Filmation narrative!... I don't know, I might be wrong, but I don't think your casual fans would remember what happened in that Filmation Cartoon.

I wouldn't judge Revelation as pure garbage if I were you just yet, let's just wait and see, it will be up in a few days...

To me, the new trailer looks great. As for Kevin Smith, he is a salesman/showman, for sure. I do wonder how much involvement he had in things, like the scripts. Regardless, this looks good, and I'm definitely giving it a chance.

So after watching the first 5 episodes and ending on a major cliff hanger like that, I think the plot was decent and better what I’ve expected. However I think the writers need to go back to the action side of MOTU and refrain from deviating so much into the unnecessary drama!

            Thanks for your feedback Andy...

Yeah, the show looks beautiful as expected, however I don't wanna see Game of Thrones-esque style of drama where a bunch of the major characters (good or evil) being killed off just to carry on with a story, especially when these "Toy" characters are immortal in most people's minds, it's just stupid or poor writing IMHO.

        • #9
So the current average audience score at Rotten Tomatoes is 26% which is worrying because it could send a signal to Mattel and Netflix to cancel the second half of the season or the entire second season, which could also lead to a bad outcome for the toys!

I feel like that score will go up some. There are other people like you and me who expected the worse and it wasn't as bad as expected. It just came out and it's not being slammed all over the place like it was when there were just rumors. The thing is though, can a god Skeletor and basically no he-man sell the next set of episodes. As far as the toys. Distribution and price will most likely be it's downfall!

It's like the 200X days all over again, but this time around it could be a lot worse if the reception of these shows are below expectations. At least the MYP cartoon was good, but the cartoon network killed it with their dismal programing!

I can't believe people here are sharing, "If you don't consooooom gargage...it will hurt the toys" line from the borg. Even Shitflix can put out decent shows like "Black Summer" without shoe-horning woke nonsense that shits all over the IP.

I just saw GI JOE's Snake Eyes and they were at least decent about shitting on the IP, respectfully. This? This is Kevin Smith taking a big hot dump in your mouth and saying, "well it's not THAT bad". It's garbage.

A lot of us knew it was coming and didn't want to believe it, and it happened. Accept it and move on with your lives. This property gets absolutely shit on every half a decade, and we should be used to it. Unless Mel Gibson get's to direct the property, it's going to be some sort of woke nonsense that disappoints everyone. Being a healthy male in the current year isn't allowed anymore, so just accept it and move on.

BUT WE'RE THE GOOD GUYS, WE HAVE THE GOOD GUY LOGO AND THAT MEANS EVERYTHING THAT CRITIQUES US IS THE BAD GUY NOW!

...there's definitely a line we all need watch out for - such as comparing anything we don't agree with to fascism - but to claim equality is somehow a bad thing is a special sort of ****ery.

And in what dimension you’ve been hiding all this time Grep?… It’s been a while lord Tor.

In all honesty, no one has to consume; as you put it “garbage” just to send a positive message to Mattel, but then again those corporate wigs usually don’t take negative feedback lightly especially when you look back at their dreadful history!
It’s a real dilemma that toy fans have to deal with constantly!…

Frankly no one has to force someone else to dislike or like something just to reach their own personal goals and expectations…But in reality it’s been happening since the beginning of times!

Kevin Smith's Fatman on Batman YT channel has uploaded this episode (which also has scored over 16K dislikes from the viewers) talking about Revelation with Griffin Newman:

Thanks to our member Andy for referring it out to me.

Also, Revelation over at Rotten Tomatoes has picked another 4% from the audience from the last time I've posted about it:

For those that may still be interested in watching season 2...(from screenrant)

This part of the article just stands out to me...
A release date for Masters of the Universe: Revelation season 2 has yet to be announced. Fans should be prepared for a long wait, as the original voice recording for season 1 took place in 2019 and it will take some time after that is completed for new episodes of Masters of the Universe: Revelation season 2 to be animated. However, showrunner Kevin Smith has said, in a post on his Twitter account, that he has Masters of the Universe Revelations season 2 all plotted out and is just waiting for Netflix to give him the go-ahead to start putting scripts into production.

Does this mean part 2 is season 2 or has part 2 even already been animated?

I'm only guessing that part 2 from season 1 was already roughly done or finished, at least with the voice acting and the preliminarily animation, because that's what Kevin Smith has alluded to in the Revelation after show if I remember correctly!... However I don't know if Netflix will announce it as season 2 instead of part 2?!!!
