  • Sideshow/Tweeterhead Orko Statue

I simply disliked Orko as a character in the classic Filmation cartoons, and I somehow managed to like him (a little) in the MYP/200X cartoons, but I just couldn't pass on not ordering this version of him since he's a new addition of the MOTU Sideshow line that I'm invested in already, and also a great fit:

    ABOUT THIS STATUE

    Magic, don’t fail me now!

Developed and manufactured in partnership with Tweeterhead, we are proud to present the newest magical addition to the Masters of the Universe collection, the Orko Statue!

Measuring 14.5” tall, the resin Orko Statue captures the Trollan hero in a moment of successful spellcasting. With an ornate wand in hand, Orko levitates as a plume of magic billows from his base inspired by the halls of Castle Grayskull.

Known as Orko the Great on his homeworld, the Trollan has been given a stylish aesthetic update featuring intricately detailed armor bearing his iconic “O” symbol. Orko is wearing his iconic red robes, sculpted to show fluttering movement as he hovers. A pointed hat and purple scarf conceal his face as is customary of the secretive Trollans, and decorative rings and magic pouches complete the spellcaster’s signature look.

The Orko Statue stands in scale with the other statues in the Masters of the Universe collection. Pair Orko with the He-Man Statue and give Prince Adam a powerful ally in your MOTU display.

The Exclusive edition of the Orko Statue features an exclusive swap-out hand holding an open spellbook, the pages of which include some Masters of the Universe Easter eggs for the most eagle-eyed spellcasters.

This is a great look for Orko. Definitely the best version of the character that I've ever seen. With the new movie coming out, they really need to look at these statues for inspiration for their costume designs.

This is a great statue! Certainly brings out the best in the character. Something like this in the movie would most certainly rock!

I don't think Tweeterhead had anything to do with this statue. It's a great statue and I hope to pick it up.

According to Sideshow: "Developed and manufactured in partnership with Tweeterhead"...

I wonder if Tweeterhead had anything to do with the design process, because it looks part of the Sideshow MOTU line in terms of the style at least!

Well, I got mine about week ago, but I just opened him up and assembled him moments ago. He fits in perfectly with the current Sideshow line, fully detailed as expected. I got the exclusive version which also comes with the spell book arm.

However I have two miner gripes with this piece:

        a) The spell book arm was redesigned in an awkward position, so when you use it, the book stands up way too high and very close to Orko's head, almost touching his right ear! Where the prototype shown in the picture had a much better stance and pose IMO.

        b) The other pieces of MOTU use a mixed media other than just resin, like polystone, ABS, leather and fabric. Orko is fully a sculpted piece from resin as claimed. But the meticulous details and paint job makes up for it to blend in with other pieces.

I never been fan of Orko as a character, but this piece is so fantastically reimagined to fit perfectly with the MOTU universe which I couldn't pass on. So far, the way these statues were designed: He-Man is facing Skeletor, and Evil-Lyn is facing Orko... She-Ra's piece which I didn't get, is still waiting for her opponent!

Hopefully we get to see more main core characters from the MOTU brand, like Trap-Jaw, Beastman,, Mer-Man, Tri-Klops, Teela, Man-at-Arms, Ram-Man, Man-E-Faces and so forth... But the rumors thus far aren't encouraging!
